RedState editor and Fox News contributor Erick Erickson is, for the record, not a fan of Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R).
Erickson writes at RedState today that McDonnell, who was thought to be among Mitt Romney‘s top choices for vice presidential nominee, is “pathetic”:
Bob McDonnell is a perfect example of the worst kind of Republican. He has no principles that he won’t sell out if he thinks the situation demands it. He is interested in the praise of liberal editorial pages for his balanced leadership, which is really just selling out the people who got him elected. His policy legacy will now be trading higher taxes for a massive entitlement expansion. How pathetic. …
Over the weekend, the Virginia state legislature pass a package proposed by McDonnell that included several tax increases to pay for new transportation projects.
We’ve requested comment from McDonnell’s office.
McDonnell is scheduled to speak at CPAC next month… “For those of you who attend this event, you will be sitting staring at a liar,” Erickson says. “If you are a conservative, remember Bob McDonnell thinks you’re an idiot.”
Erickson spoke at CPAC last month and, chances are, he’ll be there again. that should be fun.
