Bob McDonnell comes back at Erick Erickson, who called him ‘the worst kind of Republican’
Republican Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell responded today to a blog post by RedState editor and Fox News contributor Erick Erickson, in which he called McDonnell “pathetic” and “a liar.”
“It’s disappointing,” McDonnell said on MSNBC. “I can say that I’m governor of Virginia. I got elected to solve problems. The business rankings and the quality of life and the job-creating capacity for our citizens goes down because of traffic congestion. I took it on. We found a way to fix it. Would I have liked to have done it in some other ways? Absolutely, but this was the way we were able to get it done.”
Erickson wrote on RedState yesterday… that McDonnell’s decision to raise taxes on Virginians to fund new transportation projects proved him to be a “sell out.” Erickson called McDonnell, who was thought to be among Mitt Romney‘s top choices for vice presidential nominee, “the worst kind of Republican.”
McDonnell is scheduled to speak at CPAC next month.

Posted on February 28, 2013 at 2:28pmErickson nailed it cold. McDonnell ran on fiscal maturity, cleaning up the mess left by Tim Kaine, and he did an admirable job making hard decisions to clean up Virginia’s budget catastrophe. If he had stuck to his guns instead of breaking his word and selling out Virginia tax payers, he would have been remembered fondly. Now he is leaving an ugly and completely unnecessary mess for the next Republican governor to clean up.

McDonnel says “We found a way to fix it.” And that way was to raise the hell out of taxes. His douchebaggery is only exceeded by RINO Chris Christie.

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 7:13pmErickson is a blowhard.
He spent 2008-12 bad mouthing anyone who wasn’t Sarah Palin. I expect now he’ll do the same through 2016. Until these so-called Conservative talking heads get off the purity ******** talk, Republicans will continue to lose elections.
Look at the Democrat/liberal bloggers. How many have you seen criticizing other Democrats? ..chirp…chirp….That’s right for them, Everything their folks do, smells like roses. THEY DON’T EAT THEIR OWN!
Erickson needs to focus his criticism on Obama and quit looking for purity in our candidates.
I’d rather support somebody I agree with 70% of the time than support someone I agree with 100% who has a snowball’s chance in hell of ever winning a general election..Know why? Because 70% agreement is better than the alternative of 0% agreement.
For the most part, McDonnell’s record has been excellent in all other areas.

Posted on February 26, 2013 at 11:54amErick is an idiot. Raising taxes? So we get a .3 cent on the dollar sales tax increase, but he ends the 10 cent a gallon gas tax. I’m a Virginian born and raised, and if Mcdonnell can keep our infrastructure going and not beg and borrow from the US government for more he’s a good man.

Posted on February 28, 2013 at 2:35pmHe didn’t end the gas tax, he moved it to be collected from the wholesalers. The tax was at the pump for a reason, so that Virginians could see and decide for themselves whether the tax was too high. Now, Virginians that did not follow the Republicans’ dishonest sleight of hand will make the same mistake you just did, while wondering why they pay as much or more for the gas than before with the retail tax.
That clears the boards to set the gas tax however high they like without notice from the average consumer. Sweet.

Posted on February 28, 2013 at 8:18pmThe sales tax rises to 6% from 5% in Hampton Roads and populous Northern Virginia and to 5.3% everywhere else. The hated car tax (which Republicans once vowed to eliminate) rises to 4.3% from 3%, meaning a new $30,000 car or truck will come with a $1,290 tax bill. Then there’s a new 0.25% sales tax on homes in Northern Virginia, plus a new hotel tax.
Bob McDonnell aka “The Taxman”
BTW This is the largest tax increase in Virginia’s history. McDonnell political career is over.
