Benghazi: 6 months later & no answers

It’s hard to believe, but this week marks six months since the deadly terrorist attack on American diplomatic personnel in Benghazi, Libya. Four Americans died in the attack, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens. But despite several hearings held by various congressional committees, the American people have still never gotten a clear answer to a myriad of questions that still remain.  To that end, Republican Congressman Frank Wolf is still pursuing an investigation.

“I think there is a cover-up,” Wolf told Fox News Tuesday. “It is clear there is a cover-up.” After six months, Wolf is continuing to push for an investigation by a special committee with subpoena power.

“Today is the six-month anniversary of the terrorist attacks in Benghazi that took four American lives and wounded untold others. Last week, Fox News confirmed, in response to my recent letter to Sec. Kerry, that at least one survivor is still recovering at Walter Reed – six months later,” Wolf announced in a statement released Monday.

“Six months later, none of the terrorists involved in the attack are in U.S. or foreign detention. The FBI has only had access to a single suspect for a mere three hours, after waiting for months. The FBI is being denied access to another person of interest in Egypt.

“Six months later, none of the survivors have been identified or questioned by Congress about the attack or credited for their heroism. We don’t know their names, conditions or stories.”

“Six months later, not a single American official has been held accountable or lost their job over the inadequate consulate security, intelligence failures or the administration’s abysmal response during the terrorist attack.

“After all this time, it’s shameful that the American public, the media, and – most importantly – the Obama administration has turned its back on the families of the victims and allowed terrorists to escape justice for this long,” Wolf concluded.  ”The time is now to right this historic wrong and pass my resolution to create a select committee to investigate this horrendous event.”

At the Washington Times, former Assistant Secretary of Defense Frank Gaffney has put together a good, comprehensive list of important questions that still need answers:

What role did the Obama administration’s assiduous cultivation of relations with Islamists play in the creation of the State Department’s so-called special mission facility in Benghazi? What was the true purpose of that facility, and who was assigned to staff it, with what roles?

Where are those people now and why have they not been made available to congressional investigators of the Benghazigate affair? How many of them were injured in the Benghazi attack, and what is their current status?

What caused U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens to consider it necessary to be at that facility, which he had formally complained was dangerously insecure, especially on Sept. 11, a day that al Qaeda has long sought to make open-season on Americans?

Specifically, what was the urgency of Stevens‘ last official act — an evening meeting with the Turkish consul general?

Were the special mission facility and the nearby CIA annex involved in a covert operation to collect small arms, surface-to-air missiles or other weapons? Were any of those weapons being secretly made available — directly or indirectly — to the Syrian opposition, a group known to include al Qaeda elements?

If weapons secured in Libya for this purpose were transferred to the so-called Syrian rebels, was there a presidential finding authorizing such activities? In that case, had any congressional leaders been duly notified?

The public record suggests that Mr. Obama and then-Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton were inexplicably disengaged from the time they learned of the attack until their joint appearance the next morning in the Rose Garden. Where were they, and what were they doing during that period?

What orders were given and by whom with respect to the organization and execution of a rescue operation or other assistance to the Americans under attack? If no such orders were issued, was there direction to do nothing, and on whose authority?

Precisely who was involved in the so-called “Deputies Committee” efforts to rework the CIA talking points that were used to brief lawmakers and give the public a false narrative that an offensive video, rather than an act of terroristic jihad, was the catalyst for the attack? In particular, what role did John O. Brennan play in that disinformation?

Why did the president insist for as long as two weeks after the episode that the video was involved, prompting him to declare — among other troubling statements — at the United Nations on Sept. 25, “The future must not belong to those who slander the Prophet of Islam”?

Is such presidential guidance the reason why the Obama administration appears to have followed through on the stated intention of Mrs. Clinton to prosecute and jail the maker of that video — with ominous implications for freedom of expression in America?

Instead of answering these important questions, the Obama administration is trying to stonewall the issue into irrelevancy.

What do you think — will we ever get answers?

Whatever happened to the quintessentially American imperative “We leave nobody behind.” ? I was shocked by Leon Panetta’s remarks, to the effect, that he refused to assist the Americans in distress because he was unsure of the situation on the ground and he didn’t want to risk further harm to more soldiers. Is this blatant cowardice even possible with our military? Of course not. I knew something was up, especially knowing that we have special units (Seals, Green Berets, etc.) trained for exactly this sort of thing. Those Americans were sacrificed, and the two Seals atop the CIA annex who had sent message after message asking for help while bravely fighting off the assault, looked to the sky in vain for help that would never come. It further galled me that later, when Pres. Obama was addressing a New Jersey crowd affected by Hurricane Sandy, he would actually, hypocritically, use the expression “We leave nobody behind”.

Hillary ran an election ad similar to the Sopranos …….does this come as a surprise to anyone that we know nothing about Benghazi….These people are thugs, plain and simple thugs.

Any woman in this country that would look up to Hillary has to be ashamed of themselves……Sorry but I cannot say that Hillary is a Godly person and should never ever hold any type of Government position, not even janitor……Hillary is void of any character or soul.
