Notable & quotable: Bill Maher’s tax threat
Hm. Progressive HBO host Bill Maher is a big fan of liberal politics, but when it comes to actual policies, he seems to be… a bit bitter:
Liberal HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher says he may leave California, due to the state’s high tax rate. …
He made the comments during a panel discussion of current Capitol Hill budget policy that included the participation of MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, who blasted Rep. Paul Ryan’s proposal as beneficial to the rich.
“The Ryan budget is a document that says the big problems in American right now are that rich people do not have enough money. They need relief from confiscatory tax rate,” she said, Newsbusters reports.
Mr. Maher answered: “You know what? Rich people — I’m sure you’d agree with this — actually do pay the freight in this country.”
Mr. Maher then cited statistics that California millionaires pay nearly 40 percent to the federal government and another near 15 percent to the state.
“I just want to say liberals — you could actually lose me. It’s outrageous what we’re paying — over 50 percent. I’m willing to pay my share, but yeah, it’s ridiculous,” he said, Newsbusters reports.

Posted on March 20, 2013 at 1:41amGreat, jackasses like maher do all they can by electing and hyping up liberal activist politicians, judges, and “community organizers” to promote their wacky radical agenda. Then they realize it may hurt them too so they decide to move to another state to repeat the cycle. It worked for the left wing nuts in Oregon, Colorado and Iowa. Those states are lost causes and completely destroyed.

Posted on March 19, 2013 at 3:54pmMy guess is that Bill Maher earns over $300,000 per year. As a California resident, he and other similar high-income Californians paid OVER HALF of all California income taxes in 2009.
CHART: Incomes, Income Taxes Paid, Effective Tax Rate, and Voting Power of the Bottom 2/3rds Majority and the Top 2%

In 2012, California Governor Brown, backed by over $23.MILLION from the two biggest spenders in California politics, convinced half the voting population to pass big Proposition 30 tax hikes on the top 2%. Who are the two biggest spenders in California politics? Both are state-mandated, taxpayer-funded, public-sector employee unions who will benefit the most from higher government spending and higher taxes.

What will Californians get in return for Proposition 30?
* California now has the 1st-, 2nd-, 3rd-, 5th-, and 7th-highest marginal state tax rates in the nation.
* California now has the highest state sales tax rate in the nation.
Thanks to Proposition 30, Bill Maher’s California state income tax rate could have increased by 24.4% over 2011. Perhaps then the following headline shouldn’t be a surprise.
“LAS VEGAS: Bill Maher takes up residence at Palms”

Nevada has no state income tax.

Posted on March 19, 2013 at 10:02pmLove your blog! I unfortunately will have to leave the state I was born in due to the taxation and oppressive restrictions of 2 Amendment rights that are being passed. By leaving California, I will recoup approximately $900 each month.
