The Environmental Protection Agency, whose mission is to clean up the environment, apparently is thinking globally, but not acting locally.
According to Government Executive, an EPA office in Colorado had to issue a memo asking all staff to stop taking human feces out of the bathrooms and into the halls.
Deputy Regional Administrator Howard Cantor was trying to crack down on “several incidents” related to how the bathrooms were being used. They included clogging the toilets and “an individual placing feces in the hallway.”
Government Executive said EPA managers met with an expert, who confirmed that putting human feces in the hallway is a safety risk. According to the email, Cantor wrote that “Management is taking this situation very seriously and will take whatever actions are necessary to identify and prosecute these individuals.”
The EPA wouldn’t give Government Executive the straight poop on the story. “EPA cannot comment on ongoing personnel matters,” the EPA said, adding that it is focused on maintaining a “safe work environment” for its employees.
