In March, the street artist Sabo made news with his posters showing a tough and tattooed Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).
Many initially thought the image was mocking the conservative Texan, but that was hardly the case. Sabo told TheBlaze that he was hoping to help bolster Cruz’s image as a man of character and strength.
On Sunday, after HBO featured Cruz in an episode of “True Blood,” the hit series about vampires, Sabo was again inspired to create a new work of art featuring Ted Cruz.
In case you missed the story, “True Blood” attempted to mock Cruz and other Republicans.
Tuesday, Senator Cruz responded to HBO via a post on his Facebook page.
Of all the places I never thought to be mentioned, HBO’s True Blood vampire show would have to be near the top of the list. Sunday night, they aired a misogynist and profanity-ridden episode where Texas Republicans are murdered attending a “Ted Cruz fundraiser.”
Well, I’m sorry to have lost the vampire vote, but am astonished (and amused) that HBO is suggesting that hard-core leftists are blood-sucking fiends….
The outspoken artist, Sabo, also responded to HBO’s treatment of Ted Cruz. He created a new poster that may start appearing in Hollywood very soon.
Senator Cruz’s head has been placed on the body of a man carrying a weapon. He is sporting a dark outfit adorned with a “True Blood Sucks” sticker as well as a button showing what appears to be the GOP’s logo, with a rhinoceros replacing the typical elephant, and a red line though it. Swooping in from above, a large bat-like creature sporting a necklace with the name “Michelle.” The HBO logo is also prominently displayed along with the tag line, “Welcome to Trannyvania.”
Sabo sent a preview of the poster to TheBlaze on Wednesday afternoon. We are happy to share it with you:
Sabo told TheBlaze, “First posters on the street, then posters for sale if people like them.”
