Even Voter Fraud Couldn't Save Mary Landrieu

Even Voter Fraud Couldn't Save Mary Landrieu

CAUGHT ON TAPE: In the final days of Mary Landrieu's career, not even Democrat-supported voter fraud could save the beleaguered Senator.

As the clock ran out on Sen. Mary Landrieu's (D-LA) career Saturday night, not even the time-honored tradition of voter fraud at the suggestion of prominent Democrats could save Mary Landrieu.

With the walls closing in on a beleaguered Landrieu in the final days of her election, a Democrat mayor in Louisiana and top campaign ally asked supporters at an official campaign event to commit voter fraud to help get Landrieu elected.

"If you early voted, go vote again tomorrow," said Don Cravins, Mayor of Opelousas. "One more time's not going to hurt."

But it didn't stop there.

The Democrat Mayor, father of Landrieu's Chief of Staff Don Cravins, Jr., told the crowd they wouldn't get in trouble if they committed voter fraud as long as they would also cast a vote for the Democrat candidate for District Attorney.

Mayor Cravins added, "You won't get prosecuted."

Turns out voters apparently didn't like those remarks, as Cravins was also ousted in Saturday's election.

The video of the remarks was released by a PAC called the Black Conservatives Fund whose powerhouse leadership includes former Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, former ACORN exposer and True the Vote spokeswoman Anita MonCrief, and radio host/activist C.L. Bryant. The footage looks like a textbook project by James O'Keefe and his group Project Veritas which has a storied history of sparring with Landrieu.

The video proves yet again that Democrats are willing to say and do anything to get elected. (By the way, don't take my word for it. See the video for yourself here.)

The voter fraud video revelation came after weeks of Landrieu having to defend her record on Obamacare, having to argue that she still held influence in the U.S. Senate, and having fend off attacks even over the most basic qualification for office -- her residency.

While Landrieu is not featured speaking on the tape, there is no doubt in my mind that amid Landrieu's desperation she and her campaign staff looked the other way as those words were being said. It was only after the video was released did both Landrieu and the mayor say it was a "joke."

Any federal officeholder who turns a blind eye to that sort of voter fraud or worse, provides a platform for the incitement of it, should be stripped from the office from which they swore they would uphold the laws of the United States of America.

Fortunately for the rest of us in America, Louisiana voters did precisely that.

Jennifer Kerns served as Assistant Secretary of State during the administration of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger where her duties included ensuring the integrity and accuracy of votes.
