Liberals Swap Racial Bigotry for Ideological and Religious Bigotry

Over the Easter weekend I was harangued by one of Obama’s extremist liberals. With this cat, I got the progressive twofer.

Not only was he bashing my Catholic faith on the holiest of days in the Christian calendar, but he was also trying to make the case that we people of color belong only on the liberal plantation.

Just a few years ago this line of attack would be rightly decried as ignorant and hateful. That was B.O.; Before Obama. Now it’s par for the course as the extremist liberal feels emboldened to be up front with their religious and ideological bigotry.

Why shouldn’t they feel confident? They’re taking their cues from the top. These extreme left-wingers — who now run government — feel they’ve been given the nod to treat conservatives unfairly, since Obama and his Democrats have time and again referred to us as “enemies,” “hostage takers,” “people with bombs strapped to their chest,” “arsonists,” “terrorists,” “anarchists,” “racists,” and “EXTREMISTS.”

It’s frightening to watch emboldened progressives in the era of Obama. They don’t even pretend to cloak their contempt for people of faith or conservatives. The abuse suffered by right-of-center and religious groups at the hands of Internal Revenue Service — at the behest Obama administration flunkies — shows the level of contempt, disdain, and apathy liberals in government have for those with whom they disagree.

Lois Lerner, the extremist progressive at the center of the IRS scandal, was caught colluding with Eric Holder’s Department of Justice in an effort to ensnare conservative groups. This seems to indicate that this was an all-out, coordinated jihad on conservatives by Obama’s executive branch.

In a memo unearthed by a House committee, the IRS operatives in Washington, D.C. who targeted the Tea Party and other conservative groups knew the action was illegal, and even tried to cover it up with new regulations that would codify their illegal targeting as official federal policy.

This isn’t isolated. We have seen that extremist liberals favor and even outwardly support using our government to target their political opponents. Take, for example, New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, who stood with others before the press and openly called for this illegal targeting in 2012 and 2014.

Similarly, newly released materials suggest that Congressman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) colluded with the IRS to target conservative groups.

The consequence of Obama’s, Schumer’s and Cummings’ actions is that their ideological bigotry eventually filters down into the culture, perhaps by design.

Recently, the NAACP — an ultra-liberal group — had one of its representatives refer to South Carolinian GOP Sen. Tim Scott, a black man, as a “ventriloquist’s dummy.” The “Reverend” William Barber, director of the North Carolina NAACP, didn’t stop there. On a recent conference call Barber said of the GOP, “They frantically seek out people of color to become mouthpieces for their particular agenda.”

This form of ideological bigotry is unacceptable in America. The very idea that one’s ideology is formed by the color of one’s skin is dumb, offensive and runs counter to the message of a genuine civil rights leader, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, who once famously said, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Mr. Barber and our liberal tweeter need to be reminded that people of color are perfectly capable of making up their own minds as to which ideology fits their own circumstance and upbringing. I can assure them that we have the knowledge, intelligence and, for the time being, the freedom to choose our own path. To suggest otherwise implies we have no mental faculties of our own.

The left’s ideological bigotry is matched by their openly hostile religious bigotry.

The Obamacare contraception mandate has been the proverbial middle finger from team-Obama to people of faith. We’ve been told by extremist progressives to sit down, shut up and pay for it. We’re told that the supremacy of the state is more important than our religious liberties.

When Christians — like the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops — fight back, the liberal attacks get fierce. Take, for example, the Obama fan group Freedom from Religion Foundation, which has launched a merciless attack campaign designed to belittle the First Amendment protections of God-fearing people. Bolstering such efforts is the Hollywood Left, which has lent its support to the effort to diminish religious freedoms and rights . . . all because Christians will not compromise their beliefs in the name of an all-powerful government.

The “mainstream” press has been silent on liberal efforts to institutionalize unfairness against conservatives. Progressives’ efforts to replace the racial bigotry of MLK’s day with the chains of ideological and religious bigotry today are contemptible. Our heritage, culture and value as citizens are in no way changed by our political or religious beliefs. No legitimate government uses its power to silence dissent.

After six years of Obama, the people of the United States are starting to notice and are rightly repulsed. People of good will are rejecting the message of hate and division pushed by Obama, Democrats and their extremist progressive allies. America beat back the specter of institutionalized bigotry in year’s past. We’ll do it again.
