Gettysburg visitors center decides against John Wilkes Booth bobbleheads

After about a week on the shelves at the Gettysburg National Battlefield gift shop, park management has decided that selling bobblehead dolls of the man who shot and killed President Abraham Lincoln might be in poor taste.

According to the Associated Press, the small novelty John Wilkes Booth bobbleheads were packaged in a box resembling the interior of Fords Theater.  The dolls depicting the Confederate sympathizer even wielded the assassin’s weapon of choice — a hand gun.  The bobbleheads were reportedly nixed after a local news reporter inquired about them.

“On rare occasions, there’s an item that might cause concern, and obviously the bobbleheads appeared to be doing that,” Gettysburg Foundation spokeswoman Dru Anne Neil said Tuesday.

Don’t worry, Ms. Neil — the items only cause concern for those people remotely familiar with American history.  I’m sure there aren’t many of those types passing through Gettysburg.  Oh, wait
