Hank Williams Jr. Calls Obama 'a Muslim...Who Hates' Cowboys, Cowgirls, Fishing, Farming & Who 'Loves Gays

Hank Williams Jr. isn't one to hold back on his views about President Barack Obama. In October 2011, he found himself in hot water after likening the leader of the free world to Adolf Hitler. But, despite the fallout, he hasn't been dissuaded from sharing his social and political views so candidly.

Earlier this month, he called Obama an anti-American Muslim "who hates farming, hates the military, hates the U.S." And on Sunday, he continued with even more controversial commentary about the president during a performance at Texas' Stockyards Music Festival.

"We’ve got a Muslim for a President who hates cowboys, hates cowgirls, hates fishing, hates farming, loves gays, and we hate him!," the 63-year-old singer proclaimed to cheering and applause, using similar language as he did in his comments earlier this month -- but adding in fishing, cowboys, cowgirls and gays.

The Dallas Morning News reported that the singer also took aim at homosexuals, writing that "anti-gay commentary" colored some of the rhetoric. He purportedly mocked "queer guitar pickers" during one song and he told liberal politicians to "move to Mexico" at the end of his tune, "We Don't Apologize for America."

The Morning News' Thor Christensen made it clear that he was less-than-pleased with Williams' inability to be politically "open-minded," writing:

"His mix of redneck politics and music has long been a big part of his appeal to some fans, like the guy who kept waving a Confederate flag in front of the stage. But it needn’t be. Williams’ is one of country’s most versatile showmen, as he reminded the crowd with his bold fusion of Southern rock, folk, blues and piano boogie. It’s just too bad his open-minded approach to music doesn’t carry over to the rest of his brain."

Williams' original comments likening Obama to Hitler last October led ESPN to cut his "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight" from Monday Night Football. Clearly, there's been a price to pay for Williams' political honesty. In the end, though, he appears more than willing to take whatever comes his way as a result of his very public opinions.
