Shocking Video: Bus Driver Seemingly Punches Passenger 18 Times Before Dragging Him to Side of the Road

Shocking surveillance video appears to show a Nebraska bus driver, now identified as 43-year-old Troy Fischer, punching a passenger over and over before dragging him off the bus and abandoning him on the side of a road.

The two had reportedly been arguing beforehand, and Fischer can be heard yelling in the clip: "What did I say about the next question you ask me?  ​WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT THE NEXT QUESTION YOU ASK ME?  You remember?  WHAT DID I SAY?...I SAID DON'T ASK ANY MORE QUESTIONS!"

The passenger advances on the driver, rolling his eyes and saying something along the lines of: "You said, 'yes sir.'"

The driver then stops the bus, shoves the passenger with both hands into a seat before punching him a reported 18 times.  He can then be seen dragging the man off the bus and abandoning him on the side of the road.

Officials in Lincoln, who released the video Friday, announced that Fischer was fired from StarTran Bus Service on Thursday, according to the Lincoln Journal Star. He has been cited on suspicion of misdemeanor assault in the March 23 incident.

Miki Esposito, director for the city's Public Works and Utilities Department, said Fischer was initially suspended without pay after the incident. But he was fired after a disciplinary hearing that allowed him to rebut the allegations.

"This type of behavior is not, cannot and will not be tolerated by the city of Lincoln," she said.

She clarified that the March incident began after Fischer notified his supervisor that he was having trouble with a passenger, who instructed Fischer to let the passenger leave voluntarily or call police.

"His directions were blatantly ignored," Esposito said. "He took matters into his own hands."

In one the videos, Fischer can heard telling his supervisor: "I put him off the bus...It wasn't pretty."

Esposito said that there were no red flags with Fischer, who had been a driver for StarTran for four years. He was warned once for a traffic violation, and he had a DUI case in 2004 that was dismissed.

The driver seemed remorseful during the disciplinary hearing, Esposito added.

The Lincoln Journal Star reported that investigators have been unable to reach the man in the video, who provided an address and phone number to police on the day of the attack.
