YouTube Prankster's Latest Gag May Cause You to Rethink How Much Information You Share on Social Media
November 18, 2013
"I use social media all the time, and this experiment had definitely made me think a little differently about it."
Using only information from random people's social media accounts, YouTube prankster Jack Vale recently conducted a "social media experiment" to see how just how much he could find out about his unsuspecting victims. He then used that information to thoroughly freak out complete strangers.
Most people were entirely confused -- but entertained -- that a strange man knew so much about them. However, one guy actually threatened to call the police over Vale "invading" his privacy -- even though he was the one who made his information publicly available.
The prank, while funny, is also a good reminder that not everything should be shared on social media sites.
"I use social media all the time, and this experiment had definitely made me think a little differently about it," Vale says at the end of the video.
