"This is definitely more than R-rated. This is X-rated."
A middle school sex-ed presentation mixed the birds and the bees with a few crude memes.
Parents were outraged.
"That's something you can't unsee," one parent, who asked not to be identified, told KGTV. "This is definitely more than R-rated. This is X-rated."
The presentation, at Pine Valley Middle School in California, addressed "Top Conception Myths," among other topics, showing a picture of a group of tan young men with the caption "douche bags" along with the information that douching does not wash sperm away after sex.
Another myth addressed with a meme: "girl on top can still get pregnant."
Perhaps the most shocking and inappropriate photo, the pedagogical value of which is unclear, was a picture of a man with a bloody face accompanied by a caption saying, "A real man loves his woman every day of the month."
"This is horrific," a parent said. "This is unacceptable material,"
According to the school district, the presentation was not the work of a teacher, but was produced by Mountain Empire Family Medicine
Mountain Health's CEO sent KGTV a statement saying, in part, "We are reviewing the content of the presentation with a special attention to the specific images that have concerned some parents."
The school district told KGTV that the presentation had been reviewed and approved, but also said that following the voicing of parental concerns, some of the material had been "modified."
A parent said that the school's sex-ed class was canceled on Thursday.
