Planned Parenthood Performed 323,999 Abortions in 2014, Accepted $553.7 Million in Taxpayer Funds

“Abortion” is listed in the report as one of the organization’s “Top Achievements” in 2014.

Planned Parenthood has released its 2014-2015 annual report at the conclusion of a year marked by controversy for the organization.

“There never has been a more important time to stand for and with Planned Parenthood,” Jill Lafer, the chair of Planned Parenthood, and Cecile Richards the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood, wrote in an opening letter. “We are at a critical moment in our history. Over the past several months, we have been tested in every way imaginable — and have emerged stronger than ever.”

The report states that “In the pages that follow, we present highlights from a year filled with achievements and breakthroughs.”

“Abortion” is listed in the report as one of the organization’s “Top Achievements” in 2014.

According to the report, Planned Parenthood affiliates performed 323,999 abortions in 2014, a slight decrease from 2013. The organization claims that abortion services constitute three percent of their services.

Planned Parenthood reported 2,024 adoption referrals in 2014.

The organization also touted testing and treatments for sexually transmitted diseases, pap tests and contraceptive services.

Planned Parenthood accepted 553.7 million dollars in taxpayer funds, an increase of over $25 million dollars from 2013. The organization states that government health services, grants and reimbursements constitute 43 percent of their revenue.

The nonprofit reported more than $1.4 billion in total net assets for 2014.

Planned Parenthood has been at the center of a national controversy for several months after the Center for Medical Progress released a series of undercover videos alleging that the organization has trafficking aborted fetal body parts. Profiting from the sale of human organs, including those of the unborn, is a felony in the United States.

The videos spurred several state and congressional investigations into Planned Parenthood’s business practices.

Representatives for Planned Parenthood have denied making a profit from illegal transactions, and the organization announced it will no longer accept “reimbursement” for “reasonable expenses related to tissue donation.”
