Four Violent Muggers Strike Victim in Head With Baton for Moving Too Slowly — That Turns Out to Be a Huge Mistake

They weren't expecting what happened next.

An off-duty security guard who was on his way home shot one of four attackers who allegedly tried to mug him.

Just minutes before the incident, which occurred across the street from a gas station in Detroit, Michigan, the clerk at the gas station said a group of men came inside and asked him for gas money. They then ran across the highway and confronted the 29-year-old man.

The attackers reportedly demanded that he turn over his belongings as he was walking home at around 2 a.m. Thursday. But when the off-duty security guard didn't give the muggers what they wanted fast enough, one of them struck him in the head with a baton, WJBK-TV reported.

But the victim just so happened to be a concealed carry permit holder. So when he was attacked, he defended himself.

The off-duty security guard shot at least one of the four robbers, a 21-year-old who is now in the hospital in critical condition.

The other three individuals, all of whom were in their 20s, according to WJBK, ran away after the victim fired the shot.
