When information that new emails were discovered revolving around Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's server scandal, hardly anyone could have been blamed for being surprised that it originated from disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin.
Among those surprised was Vice President Joe Biden, who appeared in an interview with CNN's Michael Smerconish soon after the news was broken. Biden had yet to hear the full details of the story, but once Smerconish relayed the facts, Biden's reaction was humorously notable.
"I’d be remiss if I didn’t note that if she had released all the emails from the get-go, we wouldn’t be having this conversation," said Smerconish.
"Well, that’s true," replied Biden. "But I don’t know where this email, where those emails came from, what —
"Apparently, Anthony Weiner," said Smerconish.
"Well, oh God," said Biden. "Anthony Weiner. I should not comment on Anthony Weiner. I’m not a big fan. And I wasn’t before he got in trouble, so, I shouldn’t comment on Anthony Weiner."
