Chris Matthews is struggling to come to terms with Donald Trump’s victory.
On his MSNBC program “Hardball” Wednesday evening, the host expressed dismay at the results of the election.
I’m still having a hard time getting myself used to standing on this earth right now. This is a different earth today than it was 24 hours ago. It’s different place. It just is different.
Matthews said that because he’s “on this network and people know my attitudes about things,” people have been coming up to him as he walks down the street saying that “they’re scared, depressed, despaired, desperate even, almost clinging to me.”
“It’s quite an experience I’ve never had before,” he said, adding, “People are scared.”
Matthews added that he thought Hillary Clinton’s concession speech was “powerful” and “wonderful.”
