President-elect Donald Trump defended his decision to settle the Trump University lawsuit early Saturday morning. Utilizing his usual mode of communication, Trump tweeted out to his 15 million followers, "I settled the Trump University lawsuit for a small fraction of the potential award because as President I have to focus on our country."
He added, "The ONLY bad thing about winning the Presidency is that I did not have the time to go through a long but winning trial on Trump U. Too bad!"

Trump agreed on Friday to settle the fraud lawsuit waged against him for his involvement in the now-defunct Trump University. The settlement figure is said to be around $20 million dollars and as part of the settlement, Trump will not be required to admit any wrongdoing or guilt.
The decision to settle the case is a complete reversal of his previous stance on the legal issue. During campaign season, Trump was steadfast in his position that he would not settle the lawsuit and that he had not done anything illegal. At one point, he went so far as to say he would even restart the business after the election was over.
