After Trump bashes Boeing's 'ridiculous' Air Force One costs, Ukrainian company offers its services

After President-elect Donald Trump took to Twitter Tuesday to blast Boeing for its "ridiculous" and "out of control" Air Force One replacement costs, another aircraft manufacturer offered its services.

The Ukrainian state-owned Antonov Company tweeted directly at Trump Wednesday, asking, "May be it is better to consider #Antonov aircraft as Air Force One?"

According to Reuters, Antonov was among the top aircraft manufacturers for the Soviet Union. Since Ukraine declared its independence in 1991, the company has produced only around 20 planes. Antonov is best known for developing the world's largest aircraft, the Antonov-225 Mriya, which the former Soviet Union used in its space program.

Trump, for his part, did not respond to the informal proposal.

However, in his tweet the president-elect did suggest the U.S. government should "cancel" its Boeing order, which he claimed will cost U.S. taxpayers more than $4 billion.

“I think it’s ridiculous, I think that Boeing is doing a bit of a number,” Trump told reporters in the lobby of Trump Tower.
