A psychology instructor was caught on video calling the presidential election of Republican Donald Trump an “act of terrorism” during class — and a teacher’s union issued a legal threat to the student who shot the clip, the Huffington Post reported.

After calling Vice President-elect Mike Pence “one of the most anti-gay humans in this country,” Olga Perez Stable Cox told her students at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California, that “we are in for a difficult time.”

“Our nation is divided, we have been assaulted, it’s an act of terrorism,” Cox said in the video posted to YouTube on Tuesday. “One of the most frightening things for me and most people in my life is that the people creating the assault are among us.”

More from Cox’s pronouncement:

It is not some stranger from some other country coming and attacking our sense of what it means to be an American and the things that we stand for — and that makes it more painful because I’m sure that all of us have people in our families and our circle of friends that are part of that movement, and it is very difficult. We are way beyond Republicans and Democrats, and we’re really back to being [in a] civil war — and I don’t mean that in a fighting way, but our nation is divided as clearly as it was in Civil War times. And my hope is that we will get some good leadership to help us to overcome that.

Cox then shared that one of the things that’s helping her to cope is that “we are the majority — more of us voted to not have that kind of leadership, and we didn’t win because of the way our Electoral College is set up, but we are the majority, and that’s helping me to feel better.”

She also said she’s “relieved that we live in California” and that it’s “one of the best states.”

OCC sophomore Joshua Martinez, a political science major and president of the Orange Coast College Republicans, told the Huffington Post the video was shot during a human sexuality class and submitted anonymously to the group.

“We want other students to know that we will help protect them against the constant leftist indoctrination we are experiencing in class by exposing behavior like this,” Martinez told the outlet.

A lawyer representing the College Republicans sent a letter to OCC President Dennis Harkins, asking him to correct Cox’s “hate speech and bullying tactics,” the outlet added.

But the Coast Federation of Educators union, in a comment on the OCC College Republicans Facebook page, said the video was shot illegally “without the permission of the instructor” and that the “student who is sitting in assigned seating will be identified and may be facing legal action,” the Post reported.
