Watch: College students enthusiastically sign petition banning Christmas on their campus
December 19, 2016
College students at the University of Virginia were recently excited to sign a petition that banned Christmas on their campus.
In a new video by college news website College Reform, two reporters dressed as "hipsters who stole Christmas" approached students asking them to sign a fake petition titled "Students for an Inclusive Holiday Season" that advocated banning the celebration of Christmas on their campus because of its "triggering" and "oppressive" nature.
Many students were more than eager to rid their campus of Christmas. According to Campus Reform, more than 20 students in less than just two hours signed the petition.
"This time of year, it feels like people can shove their holiday happiness in your face, like ‘Merry Christmas!’ and it just gets kind of old," one of Campus Reform's undercover reporters quipped as he was telling students about the petition.
"I will totally sign," one student said enthusiastically in response.
"Well, good luck," another signee said.
