No such thing as lone wolf terrorism, expert claims

There's "no such thing" as lone wolf terrorism, according to national security and counterterrorism expert Sebastion Gorka.

Gorka, vice president for national security support at the Institute of World Politics in Washington, D.C., said Tuesday, a day after three separate attacks in Europe, that he doesn't buy what a number of politicians have billed as "lone wolf terrorism" that is not directed by terrorist organizations but inspired by them.

"There's this idea, this phrase that floats around D.C., called 'lone wolf terrorism.' I completely reject it. Lone wolf is a concept designed to make Americans stupid. There is no such thing as lone wolf terrorism," Gorka told Fox News following attacks in Ankara, Turkey; Berlin, Germany; and Zurich, Switzerland. "People aren't just sitting in their basement one day, go on the internet and suddenly become jihadis; that is bogus. They buy into the narrative of jihad. They choose that lifestyle, and then they kill the infidel."

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the Berlin truck attack. Meanwhile, the gunman who fatally shot the Russian ambassador to Turkey and injured several others in Ankara was heard yelling "Allahu Akbar" as shots rang out. Reuters reported that there was no terrorist link found in the shooting at a mosque in Zurich.
