WWII vet's Christmas wish comes true with surprise visit from his favorite pop star
December 27, 2016
Cyrus Porter, a World War II veteran who lives in New Madrid, Missouri, wasn't asking for anything you might expect a 96-year-old to have on his Christmas list.
Acknowledging to KFVS-TV that he's "getting old," Porter said he really wanted was to see his favorite pop star, Taylor Swift, perform just one more time.
Porter has been to two of Swift's concerts, one in St. Louis and another in Memphis, Tennessee. He said not only does he like listening to the artist's music, but he also uses it to better relate to his more than 20 grandchildren, according to People.
"Look what she does," Porter told KFVS-TV. "She puts on a show no one else puts on. I just enjoyed going to see ’em and her. I would as soon go see her right now as anybody!”
Swift, who was spending the holidays with her family in Nashville, later got wind of the story, so she decided to pay one of her oldest fans a visit.
Swift even gave a private performance for Porter right there in his southeast Missouri home. Several of Porter's family members and friends were there to capture the surprise visit on video.
