Kellyanne Conway shreds 'Morning Joe' hosts in fiery response to anti-Trump allegations

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway fired back at "Morning Joe" hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough in a tweet Tuesday, condemning remarks the news duo made during the Monday broadcast of their MSNBC show.

Brzezinski and Scarborough insinuated that Conway secretly despises President Donald Trump and noted that on several occasions during the 2016 presidential campaign Conway had spoken out off-air against the president — within media earshot — after interviews.

"This is a woman ... who came on our show during the campaign and would shill for Trump in ... extensive fashion, and then she would get off the air, the camera would be turned off, the microphone would be taken off and she would say, ‘Blech, I need to take a shower,’ because she disliked her candidate so much," Brzezinski said.

Scarborough said that Conway was using the Trump campaign as her "summer in Europe" and indicated that she wasn't taking her role as Trump's campaign manager seriously — doing it only for a paycheck.

Tuesday, however, saw a composed Conway rebuff the "Morning Joe" anchors' claims in a lengthy Twitter post. "The hosts of MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' have become virulent critics of the president and those close to him," Conway wrote.

"Ignoring insults and insinuations is a valuable skill," Conway continued, "but when sentiments are attributed to me that are not true, it is necessary to respond."

"My beliefs, commitments and loyalties are plain to see," she added.

"The notion I am serving 'for the money' or a 'paycheck' is absurd," Conway said. "As campaign manager, I made a fraction of what other consultants have made on unsuccessful presidential campaigns. Then I walked away from dozens of opportunities for millions of dollars, and instead walked into the White House."

"I would do it again," Conway wrote, making the soundness of her decisions and her loyalties clear as a bell. "It is a privilege to assist President Trump in the White House, just as it was during the campaign. I know him, I respect him, I believe in him, and I am confident in his capacity to be a transformative and successful president."
