CNN reporter slammed for implying right-wing media contains no ‘real reporters\

A CNN reporter was heavily criticized on Tuesday after he implied on Twitter that the right-wing media contains no “real reporters” and therefore doesn’t do any actual reporting.

CNN senior media reporter Dylan Byers wrote that the right-wing media is only concerned with the mainstream media, while “real reporters” are concerned with policy topics.

"NOTE TO VIEWERS: It’s right-wing outlets asking about the media (aka a set-up). It’s the real reporters asking about healthcare, Syria, etc,” Byers wrote.

Except, many found the implication to be a bit rich considering Byers himself reports on the media, in addition to the fact that three CNN employees, one investigative reporter and two editors, resigned this week after they published a story last week that turned out to be unverified and false.

The story connected a Trump transition team member, Anthony Scaramucci, to a Russian investment bank. The entire story hinged on one anonymous source and was secretly scrubbed from CNN’s website and social media last Friday, less than 24 hours after it was published.

"On June 22, 2017, CNN.com published a story connecting Anthony Scaramucci with investigations into the Russian Direct Investment Fund,” CNN said in an editor’s note. "That story did not meet CNN’s editorial standards and has been retracted. Links to the story have been disabled. CNN apologizes to Mr. Scaramucci."

This led many to rebuke Byers for his comment, while many others noted that CNN appears to be mostly focused on the unfounded Trump-Russia collusion allegations waged against President Donald Trump.

Indeed, according to undercover video released by Project Veritas on Monday, CNN CEO Jeff Zucker is telling his employees to keep focusing on the Trump-Russia collusion story because it drives ratings.

The allegations against Trump so far have gone unproven.
