Watch: School faculty member allegedly sideswipes a bicyclist — and keeps going

The exact moment a driver clipped a bicyclist along a Tennessee highway over the weekend was caught on camera — but the most stunning part of the incident was what happened after the collision.

Tyler Noe, 23, was bicycling Saturday with his friend Greg Goodman on Natchez Trace Parkway near Nashville. That's when police say the passenger side of 58-year-old Marshall Grant Neely III's vehicle clipped Noe's bike — and then just kept going as if nothing had ever happened.

According to WSMV-TV, Natchez Trace Parkway is a designated bicycle route, and cyclists are allowed to use full traffic lanes.

“I've never experienced my life flashing before my eyes like that," Noe told WSMV.

Goodman, who was riding just behind Noe, had a GoPro camera attached to his helmet. The camera captured the entire incident on video.

Goodman said he wears the GoPro when he goes cycling because he once got clipped by a mirror on the side of a vehicle.

"When it happens, it happens so quickly. You can't get a license plate. You can barely remember what hit you," Goodman told WSMV.

“I want to make sure if something happens, it's recorded," Goodman said.

Goodman later posted the video to Facebook. Police arrested Neely in connection with the incident. He was charged with reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid, according to local reports.

WZTV-TV reported that Neely was released from jail Sunday morning on $11,500 bond.

Neely's employer, the University School of Nashville, said in a statement that Neely has been placed on a leave of absence, pending an investigation. USN said that before this summer, Neely worked as dean of students. More recently, however, he had transferred to a part-time job.

"As of today, USN has placed Mr. Neely on leave of absence while we investigate the circumstances. All other matters related to his employment are confidential. We appreciate the work of law enforcement on this matter and will cooperate fully with their investigation. Our thoughts are with the cyclist and his family as well as the Neely family during this difficult time," USN said in the statement.

As for Noe's condition, WSMV-TV reported the 23-year-old is on bed rest suffering from multiple scrapes and bruises.
