A movie starring noted “truther” Charlie Sheen will be released in the fall about the terrorist attacks that brought down the World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001.

The film, titled “9/11,” will be released on September 8 and stars Sheen, Whoopi Goldberg, and Gina Gershon.

According to IMDb.com, the movie’s plot centers around a “group of 5 people [who] find themselves trapped in an elevator in the World Trade Center’s North Tower on 9/11. They work together, never giving up hope, to try to escape before the unthinkable happens.”

Sheen is a controversial choice to star in a movie about the September 11 attacks because he has previously claimed he believes the U.S. government was responsible for the towers coming down and that it created a grand conspiracy to cover it up.

In an article in 2009 Sheen wrote for Alex Jones’ Prison Planet, a website with a long track record of promoting wild conspiracy theories, “the official 9/11 story is a fraud” and Americans “cannot allow governments to continue to advance their political agendas by exploiting forged pretexts and the fact that big budget hit pieces against 9/11 truth are still being rolled out proves that the establishment is upset that the population is waking up to false flag terror.”

In 2006, in a radio interview with Jones, Sheen said of the September 11, 2001, attacks, “It seems to me like 19 amateurs with box cutters taking over four commercial airliners and hitting 75% of their targets, that feels like a conspiracy theory. It raises a lot of questions.”

Sheen also claimed in the interview with Jones he saw one of the towers get hit by a plane and that “it just didn’t look like any commercial jetliner” he’s been on. Sheen added he thinks the towers came down because of a “controlled demolition.”

“I was up early and we were going to do a pre-shoot on ‘Spin City,’ the show I used to do,” Sheen told Jones. “I was watching the news and the north tower was burning. I saw the south tower hit live, that famous wide shot where it disappears behind the building and then we see the tremendous fireball.”

“There was a feeling, it just didn’t look any commercial jetliner I’ve flown on any time in my life,” Sheen said. “And then when the buildings came down later on that day, I said to my brother, ‘Call me insane, but did it sort of look like those buildings came down in a controlled demolition?’”
