CBS executive fired over shocking Las Vegas massacre victim comments

A CBS legal executive who made comments stating that she didn't feel sympathy over the Las Vegas massacre has been fired, according to a statement issued by CBS.

What were her statements?

CBS Vice President and senior counsel Hayley Geftman-Gold addressed the Las Vegas massacre on a Facebook page, and about the mass shooting commented, "I’m actually not even sympathetic bc [sic] country music fans often are Republican gun toters [sic]."

After the comments went viral, the thread was deleted and, by all accounts, Geftman-Gold's social media presence disappeared.

What was CBS' response?

TheBlaze reached out to CBS earlier on Monday after the comments were brought to light. CBS initially told TheBlaze that it was investigating the matter.

CBS later decided to fire Geftman-Gold, and issued the following statement:

This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families.
