Radio host Delilah reveals her teenage son killed himself in a heartbreaking Facebook update

Nationally syndicated Christian radio host Delilah Rene on Saturday revealed that her teenage son, Zachariah, committed suicide last week.

What did she say?

On her Facebook page, the radio host wrote, "My dear friends, I need to share some devastating news with you. In the early morning hours, Tuesday, October 3, my son, Zachariah, took his life."

She revealed that he had been "treated, counseled, and embraced fiercely by family and friends" while "battling depression for some time."

"My heart is broken beyond repair and I cannot fathom how to go on," she continued, 'but I have to believe he is at peace with the Lord and that God will get us through."

Delilah noted that she would be taking a leave of absence from both radio and social media to grieve the loss with her family.

"In the meantime we'll be playing some of my favorite shows from the recent past," she wrote. "I'll look forward to my return, as you all lift me up so very much!"

The radio host concluded, "Please pray for my beloved Zacky, and I will pray for all suffering from this debilitating disease called depression."

What was the reaction to her posting?

Delilah's Facebook post has received over 300,000 reactions at the time of this writing and over 100,000 comments.

One commentor expressed her condolences and said, "Words can’t express the sorrow I feel for you and your family. I know how depression can take over, my mom has been suffering for many years. Please know Zacky and your family will be in our prayers. Take solace that he is an angel now watching over."

Another responded to the news by telling the radio host that it was her time to be comforted, as she's comforted those on the radio over the last two decades.

"You spend your life comforting and counseling us. Let us all wrap you in a big virtual hug as we respect your privacy," the follower wrote. "But know that all of us will send up prayers for your son, you and your family, as you embark on this terrible journey. And you will come out stronger on the other side. Peace, blessings, prayers and an infinite amount of love to you."
