Ben Sasse ‘accidentally’ dumps a Dr Pepper on Ted Cruz during hearing — and things only got weirder

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) had a tongue-in-cheek Twitter feud on Wednesday during Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
During the hearing, after a tense exchange between Sessions and Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.), Sasse began his line of questioning to Sessions with an apology.
"There was some drama there, sorry to have added to the drama and distracted you for a minute," Sasse told Sessions. "I was paying enough attention there that I dumped a Dr Pepper on Sen. Cruz. So that’s what was distracting us on this side of the dais."

Cruz responded on Twitter, instructing his staff not to allow Sasse to take from their supply of Dr Pepper.
Sasse, asked if he really spilled the soda on Cruz “accidentally,” replied, “no comment.”
Sasse also responded to a Twitter user’s joke about President Donald Trump’s accusation that Cruz’s father, Rafael Cruz, was involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Cruz replied by alluding to an internet conspiracy theory that Cruz is the Zodiac Killer:
