An unborn baby survived after his mother was killed Monday evening in a Columbus, Ohio, shooting, WSYX-TV reported.
What happened?
According to the Columbus Dispatch, three people were shot during an apparent robbery at a home in the city late Monday. One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while two victims, including a pregnant woman, were transported to a hospital. Police did not immediately release the names of the victims.
The female victim, who was 35 weeks pregnant, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Doctors delivered her baby boy alive.
The third victim is in critical condition, police told WSYX.
WCMH-TV reported that police said the shooter may have escaped in a silver or gray SUV with bullet holes on the passenger side.
How is the baby?
The Associated Press reported that the baby is in critical condition. Further details about his condition were not immediately available, but police told WCMH that he is “fighting for his life.”
