Here's what Hillary Clinton said about Trump's alleged 'sh*thole' comment

Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton derided President Trump over the comments he reportedly made about 'sh*thole countries' in a meeting with Democrats about immigration.

Here's what she said:

"The anniversary of the devastating earthquake 8 years ago is a day to remember the tragedy, honor the resilient people of Haiti, & affirm America’s commitment to helping our neighbors," she tweeted.

"Instead, we‘re subjected to Trump’s ignorant, racist views of anyone who doesn’t look like him," she added.

Clinton also retweeted a condemnation from conservative Trump critic Bill Kristol, who contrasted Trump's alleged comments with the heroic acts of a soldier who was also an immigrant.

"Two weeks ago a 26-year old soldier raced repeatedly into a burning Bronx apartment building, saving four people before he died in the flames," he tweeted.

"His name was Pvt. Emmanuel Mensah and he immigrated from Ghana, a country Donald Trump apparently thinks produces very subpar immigrants," he concluded.

Trump denied comments, but Durbin contradicts him

After a public furor that lit up the political talk shows overnight, the president tweeted what sounded like a denial of the comments.

"The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used," he said in one tweet.

"Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country," he added in a second tweet. "Never said 'take them out.' Made up by Dems."

Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who was at the meeting where the comments were allegedly made, said that the comments were definitely made by the president.
