'Bucket List Family’ packed up to travel – here’s how many countries they’ve checked off

They’ve been to 45 countries with a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old. Jessica Gee called “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson” from Switzerland to share her family’s story of literally packing up their belongings and traveling the world.

After Garrett Gee sold an app to Snapchat for a cool $54 million, the Utah couple came to a crossroads. What would you do if someone handed you a million dollars? The Gees decided that they wanted to travel the world, so they put the money into savings and sold their belongings to make around $45,000 that funded their first six months of travel.

Now known as the “Bucket List Family,” they’ve traveled everywhere from Greece to Fiji to Indonesia to Singapore, sharing photos and videos of their adventures online. Once they built up a social media following, they were able to get sponsorships to fund their travels and help people around the world. One bucket list item was covering LASIK surgery for five people in December 2015.

While their experience isn’t for everyone, Gee had some universal advice: “We want to promote spending time with your family.” As the family lives frugally and travels with only a few possessions, they make sure to focus on quality time together that emphasizes experiences over things.
