Children of a murdered man practice the forgiveness of their father's faith

The family of Robert Godwin Sr., who was killed in Cleveland by Steve Stephens on a Facebook live video earlier this month, made a statement on their father's death to Anderson Cooper. On Saturday's "The Mike Slater Show," Mike Slater expressed amazement at the forgiveness and empathy of the grieving family to their father's murderer.

Godwin's daughters said that their father "taught us about God." They expressed sadness for the killer's family because they have also lost a loved one. Stephens ended his own life when confronted by police.

One daughter recalled that her father practiced what Jesus preached. She would ask "Dad, are you gonna forgive them? Really?" and he would say yes, "forgive them. They know not what they do."

Mike professed that this is not a normal reaction but rather "a Biblical reaction." Forgiveness and empathy are not normal for humans, but we are commanded by Christ to practice both. Robert Godwin Sr. clearly conveyed Christ-like living to his children.
