Christmas films in the past few decades sit in a forgettable rut

Christmas is in the air as Pat Gray, Stu Burguiere and Jeff Fisher reminisce over classic Christmas movies and what constitutes a Christmas film. Jeffy initially says "Home Alone" is his favorite yuletide film, which the others decide isn't so much a Christmas movie but one that takes place during Christmas, much like "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Die Hard." As the trio examines the multitude of Christmas-themed films over the past several decades, they decide that none of them in the past 16 years really stick out as classics.

Stu says he enjoys watching "It's a Wonderful Life" when it comes on, but tells us his wife doesn't want to watch it because of the age of the film. "It was hard to get her to watch 'Christmas Vacation' for the first time, which she wound up liking but to her it's an old movie."

"There are so few really great Christmas movies that have come out," Pat tells us. "The only one I could think of in the last few decades is 'Elf.'"
