CNN tried very hard to get kids to say damning things about President Donald Trump, but instead they got insight and coherent analysis.
On "Pat & Stu," Brad Staggs, Jason Buttrill and Kari Mallinak discussed Gary Tuchman's interview with Monroe County third graders. They were asked why Trump was under investigation, the best and worst things he has done, and inexplicably, whether they thought the President was "hurting deep down inside and needs to get it out."
The interview did not go quite as CNN might have expected. One little girl answered, “I think the best thing he’s done is promised to lower taxes, because I don’t want to be 80 and paying a million dollars for taxes.”
When asked what her taxes should be, she said, "Maybe like $100."
One of the girls also implied that the Russia investigation might be made up because people don't like Trump. The panel noted that this was probably not what CNN was looking for when they undertook this endeavor.
