Crowley: McCain was expressing the 'frustration of the establishment

Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) returned to the Senate yesterday after surgery to remove a blood clot. He voted to continue the debate in the Senate to repeal the Affordable Care Act. He did not limit his comments to his vote, however, blasting “bombastic loudmouths” in media during a speech calling for unity.

“Apparently, we’re the loudmouths, Chris,” joked Monica Crowley of the London Center for Policy Research to Chris Salcedo on today’s “Chris Salcedo Show.” She said this is not the first time we’ve heard this “frustration of the establishment” from him or others of the “elite ruling class.”

She would remind McCain that “the American people on both sides have been extremely frustrated with the establishments on both sides.” For frustrated Republicans, she cited the failures in getting health care reform done in a GOP-majority congress. She implored him and politicians like him to hear the voice of “regular folks” who want the country run properly and efficiently.

She warned that votes for current President Donald Trump signaled a rebellion.” She anticipated the rise of “baby Donald Trumps” in future elections, which she described as citizen leaders “as the founders intended.”
