Dems prevent congressional candidate from speaking for a very surprising reason
August 30, 2017
Democrats in Polk County, Iowa, have not invited their own congressional candidate to speak at a family fundraising event because they don't consider her “family friendly.” The candidate, Navy veteran Heather Ryan, has fired back at her party, saying, “The party that tells women to sit down and shut up is not supposed to be the Democratic party.”
She is challenging Republican David Young in 2018 and referred to him as an a**hole in a previous speech. She has also put out an entertaining, if somewhat nontraditional, campaign ad. She described herself as "slightly left of Jesus" and says she'll ask for “subsidies for hair products.” Ryan has bright orange hair.
“This is the kind of stuff we need in our campaigns,” Mike Opelka said on Wednesday's "Pure Opelka," because she “would be a very entertaining candidate.” He also wondered where are the Democrats and their outrage toward Ryan's treatment. He imagines if it were Republicans who had not invited her to speak, everyone would have heard about it.
