Expert: Islam in the US preaches political advancement instead of religious teaching

On this weekend's "Reform This!" Dr. Zhuhdi Jasser discussed a Washington Post article by Alia Saleem imploring Muslim Americans to get involved in American politics. He said her argument does not follow Muslim teachings, but follows the political ideals of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Dr. Jasser believed her article is advocating for "a sharia party" to influence the strongest government in the world, the United States. Some Islamic leaders also use the mosque to push political agendas rather than preach the teachings of Quran. He asserted that this is not the purpose of Islam.
