Jewish writer explains why Linda Sarsour’s ‘jihad’ against Trump is a threat

Jewish writer David Weissman joined Wednesday’s “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson” from Israel to talk about progressive activist Linda Sarsour and her call for “jihad” against the Trump administration.

Best known as co-chair of the Women’s March on Washington in January, Sarsour is a self-described progressive and a Palestinian-American who advocates “nonviolent resistance and activism” – as well as “jihad.” In a recent speech, Sarsour provocatively called for “jihad,” a word that means “struggle” but is most frequently used to describe violent acts from Islamic terrorists.

To Weissman, her use of the word “jihad” undermines the horrors of terrorism. As someone who lives in the Middle East, he noted he truly understands the risks of terrorism and how people’s lives are affected. In the wake of Sarsour’s cry for “jihad,” Weissman has challenged her to a public debate.

“In a nutshell, Jihad means violence, war, terror anything that opposes peace,” he wrote in a recent piece calling out Sarsour’s remarks. “With this threat, it should be taken seriously.”

The problem is that liberal-leaning media will work overtime to make excuses for Sarsour’s incendiary challenge. The activist has “the left-wing media wrapped around her finger,” Weissman said.
