National security expert reports on Barcelona and 'the possibility of reciprocal attacks
August 17, 2017
Barcelona, Spain, has just suffered what appears to be a terrorist attack. The Associated Press reports up to 13 people have died, with at least 50 injured. A truck plowed into the busy tourist street of Las Ramblas Central Boulevard.
Ryan Mauro, national security adviser at the Clarion Project, reported that there also “might be a hostage situation at a Turkish restaurant” in the area on today’s “Pure Opelka.”
He also told Mike Opelka that police have found a second van, which might have been available as a get-away vehicle. He explained that when terrorists choose to use a vehicle to injure and kill people, they need another method of escape if they survive.
He did warn, however, that there is “always some significant detail that ends up being incorrect” after the initial chaos has died down. Mauro expressed concern for reciprocal attacks; Europeans sometimes view such incidents as “opportunities for them to also make their mark.”
To see more from Mike, visit his channel on TheBlaze and listen live to “Pure Opelka” weekdays 12--3 p.m. ET, "Pure Opelka Replay" weekdays midnight--3 a.m. ET & “Pure Opelka” Saturdays 6–9 a.m. ET, only on TheBlaze Radio Network.
