Rats are so bad at these NYC schools they are crawling on walls and making kids feel 'scared

Rats have become such a problem at two New York schools that students are scared.

“I kind of feel like I’m in the rats’ home,” one student at a Roosevelt Island elementary school told CBS New York. The unsanitary creatures have reportedly been running through the schoolyard and crawling on walls and railings outside P.S./I.S. 217 Roosevelt Island.

Department of Education officials and residents have been clashing over the issue, with officials saying the rat infestation did not originate at the schools and some residents countering that DOE caused the problem by not taking care of trash left over from school lunches. Residents will have the option to attend a rodent educational class next month.

Doc Thompson, Kari Malinak and Kal Elsebai talked about the rats of New York City on Wednesday’s “Pat & Stu.”

Somehow, Doc did not remember seeing any rats in the New York subway system, but Kari cleared it up for him.

“You know that garbage that was moving? Those were the rats,” she joked.
