Sheriff to Congress: Elected officials who refuse to enforce immigration law should be arrested

Massachusetts sheriff Thomas Hodgson testified before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday about the effects sanctuary policies have on communities and law enforcement. Chris Salcedo discussed his testimony on “The Chris Salcedo Show” today.

Hodgson had some blistering words for those in government who ignore immigration law with sanctuary policies:

“If these sanctuary cities are going to harbor and conceal criminal illegal aliens from ICE, which is in direct violation of Title 8 of the U.S. Code, federal arrest warrants should be issued for their elected officials.”

Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), following Hodgson's remarks, had some incendiary words of his own:

“We’re not here to solve a problem. We’re here to say that immigrants are drunk drivers, murderers, rapists and gang members," going on to add, "We have a president that said that all Mexicans are murderers, rapists and drug dealers.”

Chris responded by pointing out the factual error in Gutierrez's statement and got to what was, for him, the real issue:

"And to Representative Luis Gutierrez: how many murders by illegal aliens are acceptable to you, sir? And this is a question that won't be asked, because he's a Democrat, and the press doesn't ask tough questions of democrats. But sir, how many illegal aliens killing Americans are acceptable to you?"
