The future of US energy production is bright for jobs, exports, and even property owners
July 27, 2017
President Donald Trump hosted companies from across the United States at the White House on July 17, kicking off what he proclaimed to be "Made in America" week. The event is meant to highlight and encourage American manufacturers and workers.
Merrill "Buddy" Matthews returned to "The Jacki Daily Show" this weekend to talk about the American energy companies Trump missed in the invitations. Fossil fuel production is one of the top four sectors in U.S. manufacturing. He said most people don't normally think of energy as manufactured.
The energy industry has experienced innovations that create jobs for Americans and reduce dependence on foreign oil, Matthews explained. It is also helping lower the trade deficit as U.S. energy exports increase.
He believes Trump's pro-energy agenda will help the country be a net exporter of crude oil in the next five or so years. The energy industry is also making individual American property owners rich by purchasing mineral rights from them. As Jacki Daily noted, "That feels like winning."
