US life expectancy drops for first time in decades — despite the alleged wonders of Obamacare
March 16, 2017
The Washington Post reported in December that life expectancy in the United States dropped in 2015 for the first time since 1993. Death rates for eight of the top 10 causes of death increased in the U.S., leading to a decrease in life expectancy from 78.9 years to 78.8 years. As Daily Wire writer Aaron Bandler pointed out, the highly unusual trend appears as more Americans are taking advantage of Obamacare to sign up for Medicaid, a program that has been shown in multiple studies to produce exceptionally poor health outcomes.
Stu Burguiere remarked Thursday on "Pat & Stu" that these reports illustrate the imperfect nature of health care and the pitfalls that will plague any system or reform:
Every system — every one that's proposed, from Bernie Sanders all the way down to Rand Paul — every system in there is going to have some people who don't do well on it. Somebody is going to have a story where they got victimized by a loophole here or there, that they could not pay for something they needed to pay for. That is part of everything. We live in a freaking society of 325 million people. There are going to be examples of people having troubles here. It's going to happen with whatever the Republicans are to pass. It is definitely happening right now with Obamacare.
