‘Days Of Rage’ Spreading to…Tulsa, Okla.

(After speaking with the Tulsa Police Department and reviewing several emails from “Occupy Tulsa” organizer Daniel Lee, some updates to this story have been added below.)

The Blaze has been keeping a close eye on the various “Days of Rage” protests in New York City, Boston, and California’s Bay Area. But now it appears that there is an effort to spread the movement to the middle of the country.

Tulsa, Oklahoma (population 391,906) is preparing for its own version of the Wall Street protests as “Occupy Tulsa” is now forming. There is a Facebook page (“Occupy Tulsa”) working to organize the movement. Daniel Lee is the group’s organizer and he is reported to be responsible for maintaining the social networking sites for Occupy Tulsa.

The group was initially brought to our attention after posting this rather ominous image on their site.

Days Of Rage Comes To Oklahoma

A day later, Mr. Lee allegedly changed the profile picture on the page to this image;

Days Of Rage Comes To Oklahoma

According to a Blaze source on the inside of the group, Daniel Lee “specifically chose the picture of a woman to diffuse any feelings of aggression or hostility.”

This past weekend, organizers met in a park and held their first “General Assembly”.

Take note of the people passed out in the park from the night before. Video courtesy of Tulsa radio station KFAQ – 1170am’s Pat Campbell Show:

Based on reports from inside “Occupy Tulsa,” the next General Assembly is slated for Saturday, October 8th, while a large action will happen on October 15th. If you noticed that this group seems to be a “weekend only” protest, it seems that many of the Facebook members have requested this because they have jobs.

Organizer Daniel Lee also appeared on the radio in Tulsa last week. Listen to his interview here. (The actual interview with Pat Campbell starts about 22 minutes into the podcast). The intent of the Occupy Tulsa rally — according to Mr. Lee — is campaign finance reform.

Lee mentions that over 100 people RSVP’d for the General Assembly, but our insider claims that actual attendance was closer to 20 people at the start of the “assembly” and grew to approximately 30-35.

A similar organizing meeting in Stillwater, OK counted a dozen attendees, while the group on the campus of Oklahoma State University claims to have had around 120 students show up for their initial gathering.

UPDATE:

The Tulsa Police Department’s Public Information Office responded to an inquiry from The Blaze regarding the “Occupy Tulsa” protest.  As of early this afternoon, the police had not seen any paperwork or permit requests from Daniel Lee, “Occupy Tulsa”, or anyone purporting to be part of the organization.

Mr. Lee also sent several emails claiming that the change of logos for the group did not happen as reported to the Blaze by a person who attended the meeting, but was the suggestion of another individual and voted on by the entire gathering… Lee provided the video below that does support his claim and we happily correct our report by posting the video. (The discussion of the image for the group starts about 4:00 into the clip.)

Lee also denies that the group’s stated purpose was “campaign finance reform” – although he did state that in the interview with Pat Campbell… And he also disputes our published statement about the numbers of people they expected to attend of the “General Assembly.”  To be accurate, he does state; “for the RSVPs on the event, we have just about a hundred.”

Nashville and Memphis are planning too http://www.occupytogether.org/events/southeast/tennessee/occupy-nashville/ The discussion on Facebook is that they’re going to try and plan something on the 6th, the 2nd was just a meeting I’m guessing. Just about every state has a city or two planning some stuff too so yeah it‘s spreading but I think it’s gonna be another coffee party moment.

You have to wonder if these kids can read. After every revolution I can think of where the “Students” laid the groundwork, intellectuals were the first to be rounded up and colleges, the first things closed. Are wewitnessing incredibly stupid youth or the children of Union Thugs dressed up? What college guy who has ever been laid in his life wears an ascot? There has to be a masquerade component in part of this.

Has anyone noticed the ages of these protestors?? From the pictures, it looks as if they, (90%), are all under 30 years. And most of them look younger. Looks as if the education system did its job by not teaching the kids about the responsibilities of life and the understandings of being self reliant.

Its too bad that they are out of touch with the root of the problem and cannot see the forest through the trees. Their hard times have yet to appear and when they do, it will be a bad day for them. Most of them although knowledgeable, are clueless to the truths of socialism – which is exactly what they are pursueing.

No Lucy! No, No, No, Lucy (not-so-loopy) Larue, Since you want to engage in a WWII era history lesson, let’s do it: 1) do you know why German soldiers were so outmatched by US soldiers? because most every farmboy in the US is raised as a shooter-ready near marksman (or whatever it takes to hit squirrells w/ 22′s, etc). 2) The US populace is well armed and far more informed than you seem to think. There are over 60,000 registered long-arm hunters in Bexar County Tx alone – that’s one county. Most of us are quietly WATCHING, WAITING and yes HOPING it doesn’t come to that. But make no mistake – this ain’t Germany then or now, never has been, never will be. Perhaps it is YOU who are ignorant of the conviction and fortitude of your fellow Americans, but fear not little lady, we’ll save you. then we’ll all go drink that beer together.

Let me be very clear Lucy Loo – I’m not pooh poohing anything . . . I am openly scoffing at their ridiculous antics and the ignorance that brings such actions into this part of the country; laughing with maniacal glee at their neutered sounding rhetoric and snickering at the thought of what my friends in the city and the farmboys we hunt with have in store for these agitators should things get serious. Which they’re not.

So settle down Lucy – you‘ll know when it’s time, noone will have to tell you. Be at peace with that.

When your “cause” can only draw 700 or so folks out of a city of millions, you ain’t got no spark–all you got’s a winking flash in a pan. The media apparently doesn‘t know yet that they squandered their public trust on Obama because they’re sure doing their best to make this paid-political “protest” look a lot bigger than it is. Trouble for them is, it ain’t working on the growing majority of us no more.

Trust, once broken, is almost impossible to regain.

The media squandered their public trust on Obama. And when he won, they lost. Big time. Anything the media supports now is going to be viewed with exceptional suspicion by voters of all political persuasion.

Sure, the media wants to make it seem bigger than it is, but I ain’t afraid of these people. I ain’t afraid of Obama. I ain’t spending my life in fear. I have two things, really three if you count them: I have God; I have the second amendment; and I still have America. Don’t be afraid. Just be determined to wait these idiots out. It’s mine!” You people were given everything, and everything was handed to you, and you took it all, and then sold it all for sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll. Then you stayed loaded for twenty years and had a free ride. But now you and the rest of you boomers are staring down the barrel of middle-age burnout, and you don’t like it. So you’ve become self-righteous, and you wanna make things hard for young people. You tell them abstain from sex, say no to drugs and as for rock ‘n’ roll, you sold that for television commercials a long time ago so you can buy pasta machines and StairMasters and soybean futures. You know something? You’re a cold, bloodless people. It’s in your slogans, it’s in your rhetoric: “No pain, no gain,“ ”Just do it,“ ”Life is short, play hard,“ ”**** happens, deal with it,“ ”Get a life.“ You people went from ”Do your own thing“ to ”Just say no!“ You went from ”Love is all you need“ to ”Whoever winds up with the most toys, wins”, and they went from cocaine to Rogaine. These protests are neither. Their sole aim is class warfare, to blame capitalists for the failings of our government: To demonize Free Enterprise, wealth, and to harmonize responsibility for the failings of Interventionism. Its transparently false.

He is the one that is paying the left wing to act out in Greece and the rest of Europe, now it is going to start here in the US. By the way what religion is George any way??

Not chaos but a politically motivated campaign of street theater designed to give the impression to the masses who are to busy watching Dancing with the Stars & the like to be actively thinking about what the corrupt political class are doing . You don’t believe that all those college kids are showing up on their own do you?
They are spoon fed socialism in the classroom by their instructors & have their heads filled with social justice nonsense by professors who assume that they will be in the ruling elite & get to decide who gets what & how much and they will have the power of the state to enforce their decisions . It all boils down to lust for power over your next door neighbor .
The Republicans & the Democrats in Washington DC understand this & are playing people off against one another. The folks on Wall street don’t like the Tea Party because they want limited govt. & that means the end of corporate welfare ,GOP leadership hates the Tea Party because the Tea Party will end the go along to get along system the GOP has with the Democrats. What do YOU think will happen when the college kids find out how screwed up the nations finances are & what it will do to their chances of a good life & decide to join with the Tea party types to agitate for a Constitutionally limited government & an end to “crony capitalism”aka Mussolini model FASCISM.

Glenn has this right; these people are useful idiots. Some think they are in a new spontaneous Tea Party, some think they are there to stop out of control banks, but very little of them know this was planned by communists months ago trying to collapse the U.S. banking and political system.

Even fewer of them realize that most banks and the government are connected at the hip. The Federal Reserve is, after all, a conglomeration of private banks.

I’m not anti-bank, btw, just noting how utterly clueless these people are politically. It’s sad to see people being used as useful idiots, but it is a choice they make on their own.

Indeed, and the violence will soon start in the protests as well…and then Obama will have the excuse he needs to crush everything once and for all. The nightmare is almost awakened, yet so are the people of America finally to the evils within our own borders.

Also why is no one covering the protests scheduled for DC on the 6th; look at the sight “October 2011.com” You will have to use the entire entry in one websight entry. We need to let people know what is coming with this next band of useful idiots and Van Jones demagogery as well so to be prepared and hopefully counter it.

a vast leftwing FAIL. A series of poorly manned non-events. *** ba ya circle jerks. Obama couldn’t pull off a tipping point – first neither the military nor the regional law enforcement would cooperate against the citizenry en large. If a couple of these knuckleheads get out of hand and get their teeth kicked in, or even shot up, that will be a localized event and it will quelled and fizzle out almost immediately. Hell he couldn’t even bring in shock troops from the outside to mount a statewide campaign of martial law without some overwhelming natural disaster to operate behind. Nah, this is crybaby crib rattling – the boys aren’t coming in from the ranch for this nonesense. not yet

It won’t be long before these faux protests turn violent. Barack Insane Obama is just waiting for that day. Ask yourself why now when thy have their man in the white house? We will then see a never ending state of emergency right through the elections.

Easy answer: His defeat in the election is assured as of the last few months. For him and his cronies it’s now or never. If an actual libertarian/conservative gets elected to POTUS and Congress is flooded with even more tea party picks, the days of the progressive will draw to a close for at least another few decades and maybe the rest of our lives. This is endgame I think.

Indeed, and Obama will move with speed and force to consolidate govenrment under his control and his cronies of DC. The tea party, conservatives, and christians will be blamed and persecuted; along with the fact of the executive order for the termination on sight of 20 Americans is still in effect, and how many others have been added to it since then.

      @Snow

Yeah, well, if there is such an order I‘m certain I’m in front of that line as far as they’re concerned. Not that I mind much of course, since I don’t report to extermination chambers as ordered like most on the Left would.

This is ultimately a battle between freedom and slavery, libertarianism and statism. The Left has fully adopted their intellectual source, socialism, without shame or exception, and the right is moving (far too slowly I think, but moving, finally, nevertheless) towards their intellectual source, libertarianism/Classical Liberalism. We outnumber them, fortunately, and the shackles of statist thinking are starting to fall off of conservatises. I recall a day only 10 years ago when only libertarians were against the income tax in an active sense, when only libertarians were against warantless searches, when only libertarians spoke out against the Federal Reserve, for example. We still have a way to go ideologically, but I‘m confident we’ll emerge on top and can get back to making this the greatest nation on God’s green earth soon.

Ultimately freedom and slavery will have to duke it out. It appears that day is nigh upon us. If this keeps getting worse, I wish you and all the best and that you stay safe. Slainte.
