‘Extremists’: Clinton Compares AZ Shooter to Islamic Terrorists

As Americans continued trying to grapple with Saturday’s horrific shooting in Tuscon, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton labeled the shooter who attacked Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords as an “extremist” Monday and compared his violent rampage to the Islamic terrorists who attacked the United States on Sept. 11, 2001.

Speaking Monday during a trip to the United Arab Emirates, Clinton made the comment in response to a question about the 9/11 attacks during a televised town hall-style discussion.  The Secretary of State fielded a question from an audience member who asked why the U.S. appears to blame the entire Arab world for the 2001 terrorist attacks.  Clinton answered that it was due to misperceptions and the media impact of political violence, Reuters reports.

“We have extremists in my country. A wonderful, incredibly brave young woman Congress member, Congresswoman Giffords, was just shot by an extremist in our country,” she said.  “We have the same kinds of problems. So rather than standing off from each other, we should work to try to prevent the extremists anywhere from being able to commit violence,” she added.

Clinton’s comments have drawn backlash from some of her American constituents, including former Republican Sen. Fred Thompson who criticized her for not being able to differentiate between “religious fanatics and just plain nuts.”

“It is absolutely breathtaking, the extent to which some of these folks on the left will go to mitigate what’s going on in our country and the rest of the world in terms of radical Islam, and drawing a comparison with this crazy person,” Thompson said Monday.

Additionally, Sal Russo, chief strategist for the Tea Party Express, said using the Arizona case as an example of extremism in the United States creates a “slippery slope,” and labeled Clinton’s statement as a “poor choice of words.”

“I see the point she was trying to make in trying to encourage people in the Middle East to take responsibility for all the extremism that is there but I think it’s a sad commentary when you try to use an isolated, criminal element of somebody who was obviously mentally disturbed and suggest there’s some society problem of extremism,” Russo said.

“We don’t have that kind of extremism. You can walk down the streets of the United States pretty safely everywhere. You can’t do that in many parts of the world,” he added.

The U.S. government has charged the 22-year-old “extremist” with trying to assassinate Giffords during a shooting rampage that killed six people and wounded 14 in Tucson on Saturday.  In the shooting’s aftermath, the debate over appropriate political rhetoric has become even more heated.  In her remarks, Clinton said that both societies — Arab and American — should work to offset the voices on the political fringe:

“The extremists and their voices, the crazy voices that sometimes get on the TV, that’s not who we are, that’s not who you are, and what we have to do is get through that and make it clear that that doesn’t represent either American or Arab ideas or opinions,” she said.

“This president and this administration are determined to isolate the extremists and not to let the extremists color the view in any place.”

    This guy is nothing like an Islamic terrorist. There’s no else in the universe who thinks like this guy. There’s plenty of violent Islamic terrorists who think alike. If there’s a wave of violent crazy people who all cite, “English grammar structure” and “mind control”, then you can compare this guy to an Islamic terrorist.

      Oh the progressive chosen words that can have hidden meanings and secret motives. So carefully scripted. The message was intended more for the muslims than to the tragedy in AZ. Interesting that she did say terrorist. To some that may appear that she was slightly leaning in the middle instead of the extreme left. Are they hoping to have a back-up if obama’s popularity ratings continue to drop? I can’t seem to put much faith in someone that has stated many times that she is a progressive.

      She is just continuing to “set the table” in labeling those who disagree with the government or members of the government as extremists and/or terrorists. That way they can use hate crimes legislation and Homeland Security to prosecute those individuals. When they criminalize public dissent all violators will be dealt with accordingly. Not just a slap on the wrist…they will come after you with a hammer. .

      nteresting to note about the assassination of Judge Roll is that it is being blamed on a “lone gunman” said to be mentally unstable (aren’t they all) said directed at a US Congresswoman named Gabrielle Giffords [photo 3rd left], who survived this mass killing, and that killed at least 5 other innocent people, including a 9-year-old girl named Christina Taylor Green “curiously” born on September 11, 2001 (9/11).

      Equally interesting to note about the assassin, a 22-year-old man named Jared Loughner, is that he is being described by the propaganda media organs in the US as an “anti-government” type individual who prior to this mass killing is said to have left “crazed rantings” on the Internet, but whose “handler”, described as a white male between 40-50 years old with dark hair, is still being sought after.

      The circumstances surrounding Judge Roll’s assassination by Loughner, also, mirror those of Farouk Abdulmutallab (aka The Underwear Bomber) who “used cash to buy a one-way ticket to the United States at the last minute while carrying no luggage and being on a terrorist watch list. Incredibly, his father had communicated to the US Embassy in Nigeria in November that Abdulmutallab had been radicalized and may be planning a terrorist attack.

But I must point out how Funny (or sad) the LIB tards who wont even call major hasan a muslim let alone a terrorist, they dont want to be oofeenssive. While terrorists may act in an insane way by our standards, they are perfectly normal by their standards.
