‘Real News From The Blaze’: Attack on Ann Romney, the So-Called ‘War on Women,’ and Consequences of Dividing Americans Against Each Other

Democratic Strategist Hilary Rosen appeared on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 Wednesday night, where she delivered an unprovoked attack on Ann Romney:

“His wife has actually never worked a day in her life. She’s never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school and how do we . . .  why we worry about their future.”

The shocking comment was met with criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike.

Shortly after the remark, Ann Romney delivered her inaugural tweet. “I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys Believe me it was hard work.” Romney appeared on Fox News the next morning, where she addressed the issue.

“She should have come to my house when those five boys were causing so much trouble, it wasn’t so easy,” Romney said. “My career choice was to be a mother.  And I think all of us need to know that we need to respect the choices that women make. Other women make other choices to have a career and raise a family, which I think Hilary Rosen has actually done herself. I respect that, that’s wonderful…. We have to respect women in all those choices that they make.”

The First Lady distanced herself from the fellow Democrat’s remarks, tweeting “Every mother works hard, and every woman deserves to be respected.” Obama campaign manager Jim Messina tweeted: “I could not disagree with Hilary Rosen any more strongly. Her comments were wrong and family should be off limits. She should apologize.”

David Axelrod remarked: “Also Disappointed in Hilary Rosen’s comments about Ann Romney. They were inappropriate and offensive.”

The out-of-line and unprovoked verbal attack rightly dominated the news cycle Thursday, as the remark opened the door for the Romney campaign to try and close the gender gap he faces against Obama. The remark also comes as Democrats have put much of their campaign focus on the idea that there is a “War on Women” waged by the GOP.Romney has now tried to use this rhetoric against Obama in reaction to the Rosen comments, as POLITICO reports that the campaign arranged a call with female surrogates Wednesday morning to discuss the Obama administration’s record on women.

The New York Times reports that the number of jobs held by women is 683,000 lower than it was in January 2009, while there are only 57,000 fewer jobs held by men.

“Real News from The Blaze” opened the show Thursday discussing the controversy. While there was no argument that Rosen’s comments were out-of-line, S.E. Cupp and Jedediah Bila questioned whether this woman-on-woman attack on a conservative is anything new.

Panelists Buck Sexton and Will Cain pressed that comments like Rosen’s are bound to emerge when political commentators use certain rhetoric, and politicians push policies that divide Americans against one another on lines of gender, race, or class.

    The Liberals in this country must think the Conservatives are stupid….BUT, let me say this…..We are Alive and Well. We are WISE to all the lefts antics to degrade Women. This administration has killed ITSELF….The left Will Go Down, in November 2012, and barry soetoro will be thrown out of the American People’s WhiteHouse!!!!!!! When the left asked Mitt Romney for his tax statements, he SHOULD of said”When barry soetoro shows his long form birth certificate,AND college TRANSCRIPTS!!!!”

    I RESPECT the fact that Mrs. Romney stayed home to raise her children!!!! Maybe if MORE parents did that, the kids of today would be better adults of tomorrow !!!!!!! Parents have abandoned their DUTY to raise their kids, teach them right from wrong,and instead of letting them run the streets all night, they would be in BED where they belong.

      Not all mothers have the luxury of being able to decide if they want to stay home with their children. Many women are single mothers, and many women need to work at more than one job to make ends meet, seeing as how they only make 70% of what a man does. The majority of the jobs lost by women were second or third jobs. Also, now that funding for women’s health has fallen through in several states, many clinics run exclusively by women will be forced to shut down.

    Rosen wanted to get cheap popularity and OK from Obama. But Rosen’s gaffe will boomerang on Obama himself. Obama being a demagogue is searching for an event or issue which will create a surcharged atmosphere that will turn the attention of voters in favour of him. Both Rosen and Obama have failed to note that Ann Romney represents the best of what happens inside the American home every day. Rearing children and looking after home affairs are matters to be cherished, not mocked.

    The war on women is being waged by Obama/Democrats using policies that are killing our economy and hurting moms. And then the audacity of Dope — mock the value of motherhood and demean their tireless efforts in raising their children: real nice, Obama/Democrats.

    Judge Obama by his actions–not his rhetoric. His rhetoric portrays him having a heart of gold. His actions demonstrate the opposite. He claims to have a heart of gold, but then so does a hard-boiled egg.

    Matt Drudge is running a copy of Obama‘s 1040 which list’s Michelle Obama’s occupation as “US First Lady”. If the job of “First Lady” is a legitimate job, which it must be because the Commander in Chief would never lie on his tax return, then it stands to reason Mitt Romney’s wife DID work in a valid occupation as first lady in the state of Massachusetts debunking the current criticism that she has never worked a day in her life. Just sayin

    The only way Democrats can win anything is to divide people into groups and play them against each other like pit bulls.straight against Gays, blacks against whites, men against women, rich against everyone else. Ironically, some black people are rich, some rich people are white, some rich people are Gay. Yet these same people continue to remain pawns in the Democrat chess game. One glaring example are the Hollywood rich, a large number of which are Gay, black and white. The only fact that remains, is the shallow character of all those involved. Like those who are in movies, they are completely out of touch with reality, and are meerly spiritless characters on the world stage.

    They voted to redefine rape in order to limit women’s access to health care. They held a panel on denying access to birth control coverage with five men and no women. They voted to give corporations the power to deny women access to contraception. And last year, they nearly shut down the government in an attempt to defund Planned Parenthood.

    As you know, Planned Parenthood is a critical provider of preventive services to millions of women in need of health care, including cancer screening, breast exams and HIV testing. Mitt Romney has already said, “Planned Parenthood, we’re gonna get rid of that.”

    On the state level, numerous Republican governors have already forced through radical anti-women legislation.

    We cannot back down in this fight. We must stand strong for women’s health. Will you join us?

    There is nothing wrong with a woman’s single vocus being raising their children, that is the way it use to be. Then add to that some actually home school their children, my hat is off to them. Allot of woman must work for financial reasons. Then some woman want to work. There is nothing wrong with Ann’s decision she has the freedom and right to do so, until Obma takes it away.

    This dividing of Americans has been going on since the ‘9 Old Men’ song days in the 1930s when FD Roosevelt was using the Hollywood left to try and overturn the Constitution by “popular” demand.

    I’ve typed it thousands of times here. We have nothing in common with the leftist neo-communists. They want an entirely different country than we do. They hate and attempt to pervert our Constitution every minute of every day. So either we find a way to split apart without violence now or eventually shoot each other over it.

    Look around. Facts are not facts to these people. Science is to be abused for political agendas. Economic reality is subjugated to fairness. “No justice, no peace” means see it our way despite the evidence or we’ll behave like loosed animals.

    ok i hae heard and seen enough to make a opinion on this subject being at one point i was a working mom and now I’m a mother of five great kids. I‘m a stay at home mom because even w a nurses salary my husband and we couldn’t afford daycare. Now this women Ms. Rosen was talking or as i see it shooting from the hip. Not exactly accurate. I honestly feel that this view point on working or stay at home moms is a accurate to what alot on the left feel. They don’t want moms home with their kids because then children get these things called morals and have rules and are taught to listen to their parents and to respect their elders.The left don’t want that because they likepeople dumb and or to listen to them and not their parents.The so called i see as war of working moms vs stay at home moms has been talked about for years and here is my solution we are moms period. We want whats best for our children, And no one should downgrade our choice in careers no one. I have to say i still nurse just on a smaller cuter scale. This whole war on womens rights and oblah blah blah is crap. There is no war we have all the rights we had before the president took office nothing in our rights have changed in forty years, So why does this fear mongering exist in this first place when our rights are as secure as they always have. Do they honestly believe we are that stupid or gullible. Hate to tell them WE aren‘t and you’ll see that in seven months
