‘Send Me a Copy’: MSNBC‘s Chris Matthews Fans ‘Birther’ Flames

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie recently announced that he was offended by the so-called “birther” movement and would try to publicly release President Barack Obama’s birth certificate — whether the White House wants him to or not — in an attempt to finally put the debate to rest:

“It’s not up to the President. It has nothing to do with the President,” Abercrombie told CNN’s Ed Henry Monday. “This has to do with the people of Hawaii who love him. People who loved his mom and dad. This has to do with respect to the office of the president that he’s entitled to and it has to do with the respect that every single person’s mother and father are entitled to.”

As the movement calling for the president’s birth certificate has gained some ground, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews fanned the flames of the debate Monday as he encouraged President Obama to send him a copy of the birth certificate and put an end to the “manufactured controversy once and for all:

    Well, it almost sounds to me like his parents may not have been married and the people of Hawaii don’t want to embarrass him or his parents. Bull Hockey. Just more smoke and mirrors. Like everyone else, I just don’t think I would believe it authentic if it was presented now. And how can one person speak for an entire state. Most of the people living in Hawaii probably don’t even remember his parents. May God Bless.

    I suspect this will be an effort to defuse the case before it’s heard.

      I have no doubt BHO is an American citizen. But naturalized citizens are ineligible for the office of POTUS. A dual-citizen at birth is a naturalized citizen at birth, by law. Dual citizens are not Natural Born citizens, since an NBC is one born of two citizen parents. The only exception is for citizens born at the time of the founding– see Article 2 Section 1 Clause 5. All other citizen types are constructed by Congressional powers, see Article 1 Section 8

      Now…,this is the deal. I have a lot of common sense. I ask myself WHY my President has hired lawyers and spent beaucoup bucks NOT to release his Birth Certificate. And it is not just his birth certificate. He “AIN’T” releasin‘ nothin’! Why Ironmaan? Why?

      You are very cavalier in telling us all to move on. There’s nothing to see here.

      I think that there is something to see.

      I do not care if it turns out that Barry Dunham was born in Hawaii just like he says. He probably was.There‘s STILL something that isn’t KOSHER.

      He is our President. Why would he spend so many millions to keep ALL of his records secret?

      Most people don‘t understand that he’s only released a Certificate of Live Birth and not his actual Birth Certificate, nor do they know that he’s spent almost $2 million trying to prevent the release of his Birth Certificate.

    Any question asked of our failed “president” equals a “manufactured controversy” in the tiny minds of his supporters. Since when is it wrong to ask questions of our leaders and demand answers? Had more Americans asked questions and demanded answers during the 2008 election cycle, America would not be in the dire situation we find ourselves in today. As for this new idiot-democrat-governor; with all of the problems facing the State of Hawaii today, why is he planning on wasting time and tax dollars on an issue that is none of his business and outside the scope of his duties?

He doesn’t want to show his birth certificate because as soon as he does, he will be impeached. Then we should hold all that is accountable for hiding the truth from us should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Well that won’t work because Holder would preside over the trial. It would never get to trial. We’re screwed big time.

      Obama/Soetoro was not vetted by Congress, the Democratic National Committee, the Electoral College, any state or county party or secretary of state. That’s how.

      His mother did not meet residency OR age requirements in Hawaii to pass her U.S. citizenship to her son. That makes him an illegal alien if he has not applied for U.S. citizenship.

      What is posted on the Internet is a CertificaTION of Live Birth, not a CertificaTE of Live Birth. A BIRTH certificate is different from a live birth from anywhere BEING certified.

      Am I the only one who has noticed that everytime something major comes up about his eligibility to be POTUS, Obama/Soetoro goes to Hawaii? What’s so bad about Obama/Soetoro’s past that he spends over $2 milllion to keep it HIDDEN, when he “has the most TRANSPARENT administration” ever? The man is hiding something, and the House of Representatives has subpoena power!!!

      On January 5, we must get on the phones and demand an investigation of Terry Lakin’s court martial and demand the paperwork on the man probably usurping the office of POTUS!

    we need to show our birth certificare to get a drivers license or enter public schools but not the highest public office in the world??? is curious george better than everyone else and able to brush this off???i bet a republican would never get away with …i resent having to show my id all the time but have to all over the place…u cant even have a drink or a meal in the restaurants around here without showing id and im obviously way over 21 maybe if i was a minority or a muslim millionaire i wouldnt have to..or maybe he has diplomatic immunity..

I live in FL and not only do you have to provide birth certificate, and SS#, but divorce papers (if recently divorced); and a copy of a utility bill with your name on it, when renewing or obtaining driver’s license. So, is there any wonder why the criminals (ya know, the ones that break the laws of the land) never get a driver’s license; bank account; or auto insurance?????????

      What about his applications for Student Aide in College???? That would be one form of proof as to how he thinks of himself.

      I am the Son of an Army NCO that married an Austrian woman in Europe in 1952 on French soil since the base near my birth had no hospital. I have both French and American Birth Certificates (maybe if they are not lost) and to make things even stickier, while working for Boeing Corporation I had to get a security clearance and it took nearly a year to clean up the mess that some military admin specialist created by not filing out the proper forms, I wonder what he was thinking? was he prejudice against my mothers country of origin???? Hard to say since we had just won the War in Europe and were still “occupying” most of it at the time my parents were married.

      But I think the Law applies to either parent if they are a US Citizen under the constitution. But I will have to research further…

      A naturalized citizen is one not born on U.S. soil and not having at least one U.S. citizen parent, but later made a citizen by law.

      Constitutional eligibility for only the office of President, uniquely requires one to be a “natural born citizen” meaning “one born in the country of two citizen parents.” Both parents need to be U.S. citizens and the child must be born on U.S. soil. If either condition is not met, one is not a “natural born citizen” eligible to serve as President.

      California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is a naturalized citizen. He meets neither condition for being a “natural born citizen.”

      Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal was born on U.S. soil shortly after his parents arrived in the U.S. from India. At the time of his birth, both his parents were not naturalized U.S. citizens. Therefore Governor Jindal meets one, but not both conditions of being a “natural born citizen.”

      Senator John McCain was born of two U.S. citizen parents. At the time of his birth, his parents resided on a U.S. military base in the Panama Canal zone. United States military installations are considered U.S. soil, similar to a U.S. embassy. If he was born on a U.S. military base, he would meet both conditions of being a “natural born citizen.” However, if he was born off base at a Panamanian hospital then he would meet one, but not both conditions, required to qualify as a “natural born citizen” eligible to serve as President.

      U.S. Constitution, Article 14, Section 1:
      “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside…”

      John Bingham, the primary author, intended the Fourteenth Amendment in part, to define and provide citizenship to emancipated slaves during the reconstruction period. Because they were not made citizens at the time of the adoption of the Constitution, generations thereafter could not claim to have at least one U.S. citizen parent to qualify for citizenship. It’s interesting to note that Representative Bingham never intended this amendment to serve as a basis of citizenship to foreigners, who would otherwise have to apply for naturalization to become a naturalized U.S. citizen.

      U.S. Constitution – Article 2, Section 1, Clause 5:
      “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President…”

      U.S. Constitution – Article 1, Section 2:
      “No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen…”

      U.S. Constitution – Article 1, Section 3:
      “No person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen…”

      Only the President is required to be a “natural born citizen.“ Representatives and Senators are just required to be a ”citizen.”

      The reason for this is clearly evident in the written history of the Constitutional Convention.

      “Permit me to hint, whether it would not be wise & seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government; and to declare expresly that the Command in chief of the american army shall not be given to, nor devolve on, any but a natural born Citizen.” —John Jay, Founding Father and first Supreme Court Chief Justice writing to George Washington, at the Constitutional Convention, July 25, 1787.

      The Constitution clearly tells us that a “citizen” is not equal to, but is one of two components required to be, a “natural born citizen.”

      My father was a British colonial Kenyan. The British Nationality Act of 1948 conferred my fathers’ British citizenship to me at birth, no matter where I was born. Neither foreigners or duel citizens are eligible to be President.

      Furthermore, irrespective of my citizenship, whether it’s British, Kenyan, Indonesian, American or any combination of these, I’m further disqualified because I don’t have TWO U.S. citizen parents. Therefore, I do not meet both conditions of a “natural born citizen” required by the Constitution to be eligible to serve as President.

    And would I believe what they produced? Probably not since they were obviously paid (or threatened), along with all the schools Obama attended, not to release any records. Wikileaks could have done Obama and the populous a favor by leaking all of Obama’s records and putting this to rest, but alas, they chose security issues instead. At some point we will get the truth – someone will be greedy and want to make millions off the info.

      Pretty much .. and in Florida (one of the test states) for a renewal of your drivers license you need not only a birth certificate but for women who have married and perhaps divorced and married again .. you need all the marriage and divorce records! Even if you have had a FL drivers license for the past 40 years if you have ever changed your name you need proof. Don’t think old Barry will be able to meet these requirements if it comes to his drivers license .. Barry Soetoro?

      The only logical theory in my opinion:

      He was born in America, but his real father is Frank Marshall Davis. It’s why he was shipped to Hawaii to have a “black mentor” as a child.

      Maybe it was a case of “time to meet your real dad”?

      Look at Davis. He looks very similar to Obama. Same forehead, hairline, ears, nose, mouth, chin… now look at Obama’s “father”. He looks nothing like him.

      So Obama isn’t legally unfit to serve, technically… but having a commie father certainly looks bad. There’s your motive. It also makes sense why he was hauled to the top by communist radicals. He‘s the offspring of one of their 60’s heroes.

      The bigger question they and TOO many others have ignored is what is his legal name!!!!!??? Was it legally changed when he lived in Indonesia after his mother remarried and he was allegedly adopted by Lolo Soetoro? When that marriage failed and he returned back to the US to live with his grandparents was the name legally changed back to BHO? Whats the big deal on this some are wondering?

      If his name was in fact legally changed to Barry Soetoro and never changed back to his birth name Barack ObamaII then he is in fact committing identity fraud every time he signed his name BHO! It would send this country into a tailspin as everything he has done would be void.

      I don‘t get why they wouldn’t release it period. I’m no Birther but I do believe that the courts set the wrong precedent in case of what a natural born citizen is. Through my readings, I always understood the term natural born citizen not to mean that the person was necessarily born within the borders of our country but that both parents were American citizen thus their child would be born an American citizen regardless of where they were physically in the world. This stemmed from diplomats that would travel with their family and in those days travel could mean years. So a diplomat who was over seas with the wife, who then gave birth was still under the jurisdiction of the USA as far as citizenship goes.

      So could an anchor baby become POTUS? He was born on American soil, right? In my understand, no, he couldn’t, because his parents were under the jurisdiction of their home country.

      Even if President Obama was born in Hawaii, if his father was not an American citizen, he shouldn’t be considered a natural born citizen. He may be a native born citizen but not natural.

      americansoldier: You have it correct. The courts rulings were that Both parents had to be American, either born here, or naturalized. He was, and is, not eligible, under those rulings, to have run for president. His father was a Kenyan citizen, not American.
      What difference it makes if he shows his birth certificate may be that it shows the above fact. Otherwise, why not show it?
      The bad news would be if the Attorney General actually did his job (do not hold your breath) Biden would become President, unless he, and everyone else responsible for the cover up was indicted, in which case maybe the head cook at the White House may become our new commander in chief. The cook could probably do a better job, and most likely isn’t a Marxist.

      The Birth Cert is not the only issue when talking about citizenship. When he went to Indonesia he had to renounce his US Citizenship because back then they would not let a US citizen attend school. Upon reentry he became a naturalized citizen which is not eligible for the office of President. I would like it if the Bamster could just release all the docs?

      @BARRY SOETORO: That is the biggest crock of crap about the Obama birth certificate I have ever heard. He was born in Kenya and his own grandmother has made that statement. She was present at the birth. The last phony birth certificate on obama in Hawaii had the wrong border on it proving that it was a fake. I don’t know if that was corrected yet with another phony one.. Obama has spent over $1million at last count to hide the truth. That information was on the internet several months ago before this became such an issue. One of the sites was Judicial Watch that was trying to get documentation through the FOIA. They were foiled at every turn. I believe the Heritage Foundation also had something online then too but don’t remember for sure. I had the information stored on my computer at one time but the computer crashed due to a bad storm and the information was lost along with everything else. No doubt you were paid to sound like Obama but that post is total garbage.

      I have been a volunteer researcher for 2yrs on different lawsuits regarding BHO’s eligibility. The release of the original COLB will aide in providing more clues about his eligibility. As it now stands, by his own declaration, his is not born of two American citizen parents, and thus is not Natural Born. If he was born in HI by his American mother, that makes him Naturalized at Birth. Google Kerchner v Obama for full legal and historical research.

      bmartin1776 .. I brought up that issue I believe it was last year…with a number of different conservative organizations. I think Liberty Central was one of them. All I got was a gentle “chuckle” back from them. But I really do think it is an issue. He took the oath of office as BHO and he signs his name as BHO and he went to school as BHO… BUT did he ever change his name??? I really don’t think he would have felt that it was that important. But he did have the name of sorento and it was a legal name and not changing it legally back to BHO is problematic…. legally speaking. And yes, it would nullify everything…including all of the voting on behalf of a BHO as opposed to a BS. (I just realized why he must have changed his name. Never saw that before but his initials for his name is….‘bs’ … how appropriate. )

      More likely, Obama’s refusal to comply was merely an opportunity to poke his finger into the conservative eye. The money spent to defend against the ongoing suites did not come out of Obama’s pocket. Maybe his strategists saw an opportunity in the growing “birther” movement. Remain defiant and keep rattling the cage for 4 years. Then, just prior to the election, say “I’ve had enough” and finally produce the document. The “birther” movement would be soundly discredited.       I don’t claim to know whether he is or is not a citizen. I DO know that Abercrombie,Obama, and the Dems should have investigated his legal status before he announced as a candidate. The lingering questions aren’t the fault of birthers, they’re the fault of anyone connected with Obama. There is no shortage of leftist’s out there who would have hidden his legal/illegal status.       They can put out any document they can fabricate. The facts speak for themselves. Obamas father was a British citizen traveling on a British pass port. His mother was an under age mother(21 at that time but she was only 18) There were no anchor babies until after 1965 Immigration Act. Obama would have been a British citizens as per his father. Did his mothe apply for anfd get him Indonesian citizenship? Is that the reason his college records are locked up? It shows he was either a British or Indonesian citizen? D o we not have the right to know if we have an imposter in the office of POTUS? Oh.       I agree with you 100%. The leader of the most powerful nation on earth has the power and technology to make a convincing birth certificate. If one apeared now, I wouldn’t believe it was real. Too late hot plate.

      58+23+20=? By my math the answer is 101%. The NYT has an editor problem the same as MSNBC. The progressives using flawed polls to beat the American people over the head for our ignorance. To get a government job I had to have a notarized copy of my birth certificate. I had a copy but that was not good enough. I don’t have to show anything to be president?

      I never seen a guy give out so much crap. It is not so hard to prove where Obama was born. All he has to do is show his birth certificate, like any other citizen of the United States. If we are asked for our bursts certificates for a job or a government job we have to show it. This is total craziness for any law maker just to give a guy a pass because elected president of the United States by the people of the United States. It is unconstitutional, showed the dam burst certificate! That ends the question where he was born. Till that burst certificate is shown to the American people I will have my doubts about him being eligible to be president.

      I bet he doesn’t release it after Obama gets ahold of him. Obama doesn’t want it released for very good reason. He wants as many Republicans making the claim he wasn’t born in America so they can argue that all Republicans are as stupid as the “birthers”.

      You are correct. As usual, the birth certificate issue is nothing but smoke and mirrors. I believe he was born in Hawaii. That being said, I would bet my own citizenship that while he was in Indonesia his stepfather and mother renounced his american status (after all he was only a child) inorder for Barry to attend school there. So really that is the issue. If one “natural born” citizen gives up his/her citizenship and later then choses to be “naturalized” again, Does he/she have the right to be an executive branch leader? Why isn’t any of the media including fox not investigating on this “theory”? Why hasn’t Obama admitted that while he lived in Indonesia that he was taught under the muslim religion? This is the kind of stuff that really upsets me. How can certain people get away with this kind of fraud? Is this why Obama and his Congress are so lenient on illegal immigrants? They are lying through omission!!! It’s still a lie. I’m sick and tired of being lie to. I want the truth and nothing but the truth. Enough already!

      I think there will always be controversy over this issue even if there is a real birth certificate. People will always believe it was fabricated. BHO simply should not have tried to spend millions of dollars on preventing its release. That alone says he is hiding something which simply added fuel to the fire.

      This new Governor of Hawaii happened to be good friends with Barack Obama’s parents… And we know absolutely nothing about Barack Obama! He has not showed any of his personal records: his long-form birth certificate, school papers, passport, even his medical records…

      What’s the big mystery, President Obama? Why would you hire a team of lawyers at tax-paid expense to avoid showing your birth certificate? Why would you allow this issue to fester and grow?
