President Barack Obama offered his personal endorsement for a possible mayoral run from his acting chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.
During an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos this morning, the president signaled his support for Emanuel’s future political aspirations, but said not to expect a final decision until after the Nov. 2 midterm elections.
During the “Good Morning America” interview, Stephanopoulos asked Obama about his vote. “You’re still a voter in Chicago. If he wants to run for mayor, does he do it with your blessing and your vote?”
“I think he would be an excellent mayor. He is an excellent chief of staff,” Obama replied. ”I think right now, as long as he is in the White House, he is critically focused on making sure that we’re creating jobs for families around the country and rebuilding our economy. And, you know, the one thing I’ve always been impressed with about Rahm is that when he has a job to do, he focuses on the job in front of him. And so, my expectation is he would make a decision after these midterm elections. He knows that we’ve got a lot of work to do. But I think he would be a terrific mayor.”
“Well, that seems like an endorsement from the president,” Stephanopoulos responded.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 8:05pmAt least we know who Rahm is. I’m interested to know the background that caused Daley to call it quits. Was he nudged by one of Rahm’s cronies? Methinks yes.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 7:43pmEven if I didn‘t know about Emanuel’s shady dealings, questionable associations and thuggish strong arm tactics, an endorsement from Obama would convince me to campaign against him.

We don’t need another convicted politician marked up agianst us.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 7:38pmIf you think Chicago is corrupt with the current Mayor, well Rahm would be ten times worse! He has been trained by the master of collusion, POTUS! If the the residents of Chitown vote for this whacko, they deserve what they get!

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 6:33pmChicago might be the only place in America where Obozo’s endorsement carries any weight. After all, they all crawled out of the same Cesspool of Corruption with their little Rules for Radicals handbook.

AND THEY DON’T LIKE HIM.. I forget what Obama‘s poll reading are in IL but they are so low he most likely WOULDN’T carry the state if he was running today..
